A little greens update this week.

For those playing this weekend you might notice a few things.

Colour - even though we are in spring, we still haven't really had a flush of growth yet going by indicators around the course. The greens have also been smashed with moss killer which has almost acted as a growth inhibitor in itself which has stressed the plant.

Speed - speed will be down this weekend. They got cut Monday but that was it, there's was no real need to cut them when growth was minimal and stress is up. They also got a granular fert on Thursday and some prills were still present today so we skipped our usual Friday mow and roll for the benefit of the plant up taking all of the nutrition available.

Hopefully we can get a little warmth heading into October and we will see them looking a little healthier next week.

Our boom sprayer is now back in action so we look forward to resuming our 2-3 week foliar programme to accelerate our path to greatness.

It's happening.... The worst kept secret is out.

Today, Island Park Golf Club embarks on a new journey in golf course maintenance with the addition of 2 robot mowers through the team at Power Turf and Husqvarna.

We are hugely excited to be embracing the new technology with ultimate goal of spending less man power on mowing grass and more time refining other areas on the course.

The mowers will be in charge of cutting fairways and tees, saving us up to 15-20hrs a week in man power during peak growth period.

This time can be put into things like growth and w**d spraying, topdressing and getting projects done like building a bunker!

Today we are mapping out our areas with the first of the cuts likely to take place tonight.

We'd like to thank Mike Brosnan at Grassroots Trust, the Lion Foundation and the Otago Community Trust for their help in securing what we think will be a game changer for our golfing community.
