Had an awesome night at the Lyall Bay Bowling Club 2025–26 prizegiving celebrating another great season on and off the green.

Too many highlights to mention but a very special moment in the evening was Wellington and New Zealand bowling legend Judy Howat MNZM being awarded her Bowls Wellington cap – a fantastic and well‑deserved recognition of her extraordinarily successful career and the immense contribution she’s made to the game.

Huge congratulations to all award recipients, and thanks and gratitude to all the hard work that keeps Lyall Bay bowling club a welcoming and competitive place to play the game we love.

Yesterday we held our annual Kings Birthday Gala, and yet again it did not disappoint. Was great to share the day with an absolutely awesome bunch of people and play some bowls before winter sets in.
We just wanted to say a big thank you to TigerTurf for their continued support, to Chur Bowl for capturing the day and to all our amazing volunteers who helped make the day run so smoothly.

A couple of fantastic performances from our two Bowls Three5 teams in this years Wellington twilight competition. With our junior and senior teams making it all the way to the Wellington final.

Our open team took the spoils beating Upper Hutt in an extra end and even got back to Naenae in time to support our junior team who came up against a classy Stokes Valley side losing 1 set to 0 after the first set ended in a draw. Well done on a great season from both teams!

Congratulations to Jessie Smith the first female winner of the Brackenridge trophy which was first awarded in 1933. From BMX world champion to Lyall Bay Brack handicap singles champion… not quite the pinnacle of her sporting achievements but we’re pretty proud of this 1st year !! Go Jess!! 🚲 😜

Congratulations to first year bowler Jessie Smith and Sarah Cooper who are about to play the final of the Brackenridge 2-Life Handicap tournament. This is the first year that this competition has been opened up as a mixed event so we’re going to have our first woman champion. Congratulations also to Barry Ablett and Paul Flynn who gave Sarah and Jess a great run in the semifinals.
Final starting at 2pm.
