A typical training session usually consists of warm up which includes skipping and shadow boxing, te It’s a very laid back atmosphere.

Like most gyms, there are two training sessions per day at Sh**un Fight Gym The Evening session starts at 6pm and the night session starts at 7.30pm. The sessions usually consist of some skipping and a brief warm up with some shadowboxing, followed by some technique instruction. The boy that earned his Sponsorship, never demanded.

I stopped sponsoring fighters a while ago. Over the years, I've heard many reasons such as having a family to support, being a student, financial hardship, and more. I understood, and I tried to help.

But when the sponsorship ended, I became the bad guy. Some talked behind my back. Some criticised the gym. That experience taught me a valuable lesson.

They forgot about the Venum gloves, customised shirts, overseas competition expenses, hotels, meals, and everything else I paid for. Some even had the audacity to tell me, "That's your job as the gym owner." That was one of the most disappointing things I've ever heard.

The truth is, the gym became financially healthier once I stopped giving things away for free. Looking back, it's a decision I should have made in 2021. Talent alone doesn't keep a gym running. Commitment, responsibility, loyalty, and character do.

Throughout my own martial arts journey, I was never sponsored by any gym or organisation. I paid for my own training and competitions by working as a delivery rider because I believed in investing in myself.

So this is how I do things now. If you genuinely can't afford to train, I understand, but free training is no longer an option. If you're dedicated, contribute in another way. Help coach a class. Assist around the gym. Pay with your time, effort, and commitment.

Nothing in life is truly free. If someone chooses to invest in you, honour that investment with loyalty, gratitude, and hard work. That's how sponsorship is earned.

So proud of my daughter! She completed her very first Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai classes last weekend without shedding a single tear. Even better, she made a new friend along the way. ❀️

A great first step in her martial arts journey!
