City of Adel Police

For Immediate Release

At approximately 7:50 PM Adel Police officers were dispatched to a report of shots fired in the 1600 block of Pleasant Street. There, officers found two adults with gunshot wounds. One was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the other was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Adel Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation are conducting an investigation into this shooting. The findings of the investigation will be provided to the Dallas County Attorney’s Office.

This is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public. The names of those involved are being withheld at this time.

Brought to Adel by the Rotary Club of Adel and the Adel Police Department, the 7th Annual Safety Bike Rodeo will be held on Saturday, May 16, from 9-11 a.m. at the Adel City Hall Parking Lot. Kids will receive bike-riding safety tips as they navigate the course after bikes and helmets are checked by Bike World and adjusted, if needed. There will be free giveaways and a drawing for prizes.
