Beginner’s Guide to Progressive Overload

“One of the most common questions people ask when starting their fitness journey is, “How do I keep making progress?” Whether your goal is to build strength, gain muscle, improve endurance, lose weight, or simply become healthier, the answer often comes down to one fundamental training principle: progressive overload.

“At first glance, progressive overload may sound like a complicated scientific concept, but it is actually a simple idea that serves as the foundation of nearly every successful fitness program. Understanding how it works can help you train more effectively and continue seeing results long after the excitement of starting a new workout routine wears off.”

Beginning Saturday, July 11th, we’re excited to pilot expanded weekend access for MET-Fit members.

For just $10/month, group training and personal training members can take advantage of our new Saturday Strength & Recovery Hours from 9:30 AM - Noon.

This additional training time is designed to give you more flexibility and more opportunities to invest in your health. Whether you want to:

-Make up a missed training session

-Add an extra strength training day

-Complete a mobility or recovery workout

-Improve your consistency during a busy week

-Spend more time working toward your health and fitness goals

..this option is for you.

As part of the program, we’ll also provide a bonus mobility and recovery workout each week that you can complete during Saturday hours. These sessions will focus on movement quality, flexibility, mobility, balance, recovery, and other areas that often get neglected during the week but play a major role in long-term health and performance.

Unlike a traditional open gym, Saturday Strength & Recovery Hours will be supervised by a MET-Fit coach throughout the entire session. While this is not a structured class, staff will be available to answer questions, assist with exercise selection, provide form feedback, help with equipment setup, and ensure a safe, welcoming training environment. Whether you’re completing your regular program, making up a missed workout, or working through the recovery session, you’ll have access to knowledgeable support when you need it.

We’re launching this as a pilot program for the month of July and would love your feedback as we evaluate future weekend offerings.

Cost: $10/month
Start Date: July 11
Hours: Saturdays, 9:30 AM - Noon

If you’d like to participate, let us know and we’ll add weekend access to your membership.

We look forward to seeing you on Saturdays!

Staying Fit While Traveling

“Vacations and travel are often viewed as a much-needed escape from the routines and responsibilities of everyday life. For many people, that break includes stepping away from their regular exercise schedule. After all, vacations are meant for relaxation, exploration, and spending time with family and friends. While taking a few days off from structured exercise isn’t necessarily a bad thing, extended periods of inactivity can lead to a decline in fitness levels and make it more difficult to regain momentum once you return home.

“The good news is that maintaining your fitness while traveling doesn’t require spending hours in a gym or following an intense workout plan. In fact, staying active during vacation can be simple, enjoyable, and flexible. The goal isn’t to achieve personal records or maximize performance—it’s simply to minimize the effects of temporary deconditioning and keep healthy habits in place.”
