Come 1 come all… dance in the dark!!

10/22/2026

Would you dance without using your eyes?

At Dance in the Dark™️: Groove to Give Festival, sighted participants, including blind and visually impaired attendees with light perception, will wear blindfolds during the dance workshops.

The blindfold isn't about simulating blindness. It's about temporarily removing sight and discovering new ways to communicate, trust, and connect through movement, touch, rhythm, and our other senses.

What might you discover when you experience connection differently?

Organized by We Can Dance, a nonprofit creating accessible dance experiences for blind, visually impaired, and sighted people.

Hope to see you there!!

Ever walked into a dance class and wondered if you belonged there?

Imagine walking into a space you don't want to leave because your presence is felt, you are seen, you are heard, you feel safe, and you are invited to fully participate.
That's the experience we're designing at Dance in the Dark™️: Groove to Give Festival, organized by We Can Dance, a nonprofit organization creating more accessible opportunities to experience dance and connection.
Because accessibility isn't just an accommodation. It's an opportunity to belong.
You may leave seeing yourself, others, and what it means to belong a little differently.
Inclusion begins long before the music starts.

Ricki has a story for you:
What if one dance could connect you to your roots or introduce you to a culture you never knew?
Ricki is blind and has ancestral roots in Cape Verde. Through Kizomba classes and Dance in the Dark™️ socials with We Can Dance, he found another way to deepen his connection to his ancestral land.
For Ricki, Kizomba is also about bringing people together. He is proud to share his culture with others and hopes dance encourages people to embrace and appreciate different cultures.
Connection to heritage. Connection to people. Connection Beyond Sight.
At Dance in the Dark™️: Groove to Give Festival, you can experience the stories and share your own. Step into our Story Room and tell us about your experience, your culture, your connection, or what the day means to you.
Come to dance. Leave your story.

You know how to dance. 💃🕺🏻

Now take on a new challenge: help someone else discover that they can dance without relying on sight.

At Dance in the Dark™️: Groove to Give Festival, sighted participants and visually impaired participants with light perception will experience designated workshops blindfolded.
Our Teaching Assistants will be blindfolded too.

We are looking for intermediate to advanced dancers and instructors in Kizomba, Bachata, and Line Dance to work alongside our main instructors and help participants learn movement, rhythm, partner communication, and Connection Beyond Sight.
