Why Should athletes do Sports Performance Training year round?
In the game of volleyball, the majority of game movement is immediate with maximum contraction and weight training a85% intensity and above, teaches the muscles to instantly contract at maximum effort, conditioning them to this type of activity. At ACE we are not only training strength, but also power, speed mechanics, and plyometrics as well to make sure that your athletes bodies are primed to perform at their top physical condition. If the athlete is not training these qualities, then the bodies ability to produce them at a high level over time, diminishes. The body will begin to break down and athletes begin to suffer from injuries, due to weakness/lack of mobility or strength.
Sports performance training is full of skills for athletes to learn to help them perform better on the court. Being a skill…. The more they do it the better/more athletic they become. The stronger they are, the longer they can play. The faster they are the more balls they can get to. The higher they jump the more balls they are able to block and kill. Leading to not only playing at a more efficient level but also at a higher level without injuries. And if we wait until the injuries begin to pile up to start training when it should’ve been started months ago, the season becomes long and grueling with the possibility of missed practices, games, and tournaments.
How often should athletes do Performance Training?
We recommend that athletes train at least 2-3 times a week, not only to increase and maintain levels of strength, but to improve their athleticism. And gradually reduce the chance of getting injured.
If you’re only playing the sport and not building yourself to become a durable and robust athlete and hone on your skills on a consistent basis, it is only a matter of time until fatigue and stress set in and you have a whole new set of problems.
An investment in your athletic advancement is a worthy investment for long term athletic development and a long injury free career. The choice is yours.

🏋️♂️ACE Performance Lab is now offering an Adult Membership all year long that will allow you to workout during morning and afternoon hours if they fall between their open lift time slots.
We will also have morning workout training classes in Fenton as well that are run by the performance directors themselves.
The open lifts are just like you going to your own gym and working out during those times. If you don’t know what to do they will also have a workout plan of the day that gives you a workout you can push yourself with.
Training classes will start June 5th but open lift times are open now and you can workout NOW. Doesn’t matter where you live, you can workout in both locations as well. Cost is $100/Month and If you have any questions send us a DM!

There is no “best” squat. Whneever I work with young athletes in the gym the goal is to use exercises that a most transferable to the sport and most effective series that executes results.
When it comes down to it, there is no perfect or ideal version of the lift but rather whichever works best for you.
For athletes the front squat can provide a good alternative to the traditional barbell back squat, and can be done at light weight as a goblet squat.
While the back squat will always reign king of the squat variations, the front squat can and should be used in order to achieve specific aims in the gym, whether it’s teaching better squat technique, improving thoracic function, or more closely simulating the movement you are trying to replicate in your sport.
