Considering a Garmin LVS42 or LVS44?
Not sure which of the new LiveScope 2 / Panoptix forward-facing sonar transducers is for you? Come see us and we’ll help make the choice crystal clear.
Quick honest take:
LVS42 HD — Maximum detail inside casting distance (~125 ft). Best if you fish docks, brush, timber, or want the sharpest look at bait and fish close to the boat.
LVS44 — More range (out toward 250 ft) with a solid image-quality bump. Better if you cover water, hunt suspended fish, or want to see farther than the old LVS34.
Both skip the black box, plug straight into a compatible Garmin unit, and add stabilization plus auto shutoff when you lift the transducer.
That said — if you already run an LVS34 and you’re happy with it, this may be a nothing burger for you. It’s a real step forward, but not a night-and-day change for every style of fishing. We’ll tell you straight if the upgrade is worth it on your boat.
Stop in, bring your questions, and we’ll walk through range, mounts, compatibility, and what actually makes sense.
