One of these two people is a world class athlete
One of these two people is Tri-State Steel President and CEO Steve Scott!!
Allow us to introduce you to one of our all time favorite young athletes and more importantly a terrific young man!! We are so proud to call him our friend!
Ryan Clancy
15 | Greensboro, NC | Rising 10th Grader, Grimsley HS (IB)
Greensboro’s own Ryan Clancy is the #1 ranked Boys 13–15 triathlete in the United States, putting together a dominant 2026 season. He’s captured overall victories across the country—from Florida and Texas to Pennsylvania—but has also made a name right here at home, winning races in Stokesdale, Raleigh, and Greensboro.
Ryan currently leads the Tri-State Steel NC Junior Triathlon Series, highlighted by wins at the Triangle Triathlon and Greensboro’s E3 Endurance Super Sprint—familiar courses where local athletes and families have watched him grow into one of the nation’s best.
Off the racecourse, Ryan is just as strong in the classroom. A rising sophomore in Grimsley High School’s IB program, he earned straight A’s as a freshman while contributing to the school’s conference champion cross-country team. Before Grimsley, he attended Our Lady of Grace in Greensboro, where he was a straight-A student every year, a multi-sport athlete, and recipient of the Knights of Columbus Patriotism Award.
Around town, you might see Ryan training on local roads, helping coach his younger brother Sampson in triathlon, or walking his goldendoodle, Moose. And now with his driver’s permit, he’s covering ground a little faster off the bike, too.
Next up for Ryan is the Flatland Cup Triathlon in Des Moines, Iowa as he prepares for USAT Youth & Junior Nationals on August 1 in West Chester, Ohio—where he’ll look to cap off an incredible season on the national stage.
