Today we had the privilege of welcoming 25 members of the Carolinas Horticultural Therapy Network (CHTN) to Hendo Care Farm as part of the 2026 CHTN Annual Conference at Bullington Gardens!
Our farm was selected as one of the sites included in this year’s conference itinerary, centered around the theme “Mindfulness, Resilience and TH/HT.” 💚
During their visit, we shared the Horticultural Therapy garden beds that were created alongside children attending our Farm Camps with Horticultural Therapist Dr. Sarah Himmelheber.
These spaces are so much more than places to grow plants—they are places where children can slow down, engage their senses, build confidence, connect with nature, and experience the therapeutic benefits of getting their hands in the soil. 🌻🪴
And of course, you can’t visit Hendo Care Farm without meeting some of the residents! 🐐🐷🐔🐴 Our guests spent time visiting our goats, pigs, chickens and horses before ending their tour with a few peaceful moments beside our beautiful creek. 🌿💦
It felt especially meaningful to welcome a group of people who understand just how powerful our relationship with plants, animals and the natural world can be.
I’m also excited to attend the conference myself and continue learning alongside this wonderful community of professionals who are helping expand the reach and understanding of Horticultural Therapy throughout the Carolinas and beyond.
