The number one excuse is not having time!

Setting up training around a full schedule can be a challenge. It helps to have your training personalized to fit your needs.

However, if your goal is important you will find the time. I had to sacrifice sleeping in on vacation to make sure I got a long run in, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying my day.

What an insane 5 days watching the back yard ultra world championship! 🇺🇸

An insane display of mental strength and durability from all athletes. Mark Dowdle again pulls out the victory for Team USA and surpasses the 100 lap milestone.

Final a Strong Long Run!🏃

Breaking the half marathon mark and feeling like I could have kept going is a great feeling.

Lots of positives from today’s run. Worked on my fueling plan and slowed my pace down to keep my run closer to zone 2.

52% of runners will deal with Achilles Tendinopathy in their lifetime! 🏃‍♂️

Tendon pain feels enviable but you can help prevent your risk by training smarter not harder. Often these injuries are boiled down to a poor training plan.

Harsh reality of running!🏃

Sometimes your gut is just not your friend. Luckily the trail had a convenient public restroom so I didn’t have a hyrox situation on my hands.

But like all issues on long runs you can only learn from it. I had a slightly different breakfast this morning than I normally do so I think the extra grease did me in. Keeping to a simple breakfast with lots of carbs is my typical go to.

Try this routine before your next run 🏃

This is my personal warm up routine I do before every run. It ensures my legs are ready to go once my watch starts.

It’s simple but effective. When fitting training into a busy schedule you don’t have time to warm up for 20 min before a workout.

If you want more detailed breakdown of my routine comment “Durable” below.

If you ever owned a razor cellphone you need to be warming up before you run!🏃

A good warm up routine doesn’t have to take an eternity and targets muscles that help prepare your legs for the demands of your run.

Taking 5 minutes before your runs can save you months of headache dealing with an injury.

Momentum is powerful!

It is easy to fall into a doom scroll especially after a long day at work. Getting off the couch and going out for my run always has some friction!

But once I get my shoes on and warm up my momentum carries me through the workout. I always leave feeling better than I started.

Are your knees ready to run? 🏃‍♂️

Being able to excel at absorbing load is one of the most important parts of running and maintaining healthy knees, especially as your mileage starts to increase.

Single-leg exercises like lunges are a great way to intentionally overload the force absorption demands on your legs.

Adding exercises like this into your strength training routine can help prepare your body for the demands of running — not just more mileage.

Ultra Training Week 3 ✅

Not every week in training is meant to feel great and this one definitely was one of those weeks. Was still able to get my mileage in but motivation was very low!

I got destroyed by the heat on my long run, but learned a lot of good mental lessons.

Three weeks of base mileage means that I am going to start ramping up my weekly total over the next few weeks.

A common mistake runners make in training is getting ahead of themselves in mileage. The body requires time to adapt to training. Going from 18-20 miles a week to 30-40 doesn’t happen over night. I plan to add 5 miles to my weekly total the next two weeks.
