This shoulder mobility sequence with a yoga strap is one of my favorite ways to wake up the back of the shoulders without dumping tension into the neck. The trick is gentle pressure out against the band — enough to feel the shoulder engage, not so much that it creeps up toward your neck. Notice how it feels as you reach overhead and back toward the mat. That awareness is the work.
This clip is just one piece of my full body release session. The setup and the breath work leading into it make a real difference, so catch the whole thing on my YouTube channel. 🧘♀️
Studio Upgrade - Pilates Inspired Wellness
A mindful movement studio offering Pilates, strength, mobility, yoga, and red-light therapy.
We help you move with confidence, manage stress, build strength, and upgrade your daily life from the inside out. ✨
How often do you actually pause mid-workout to notice what's changing in your body?
We built a moment of reflection into this week's session — a chance to check in and feel the small shifts. Is the back a little more settled? Have the shoulders let go of some tension? Are the legs finding the floor with more ease?
Here's the thing: this moment doesn't stand on its own. It only means something once you've moved through the earlier work first. That's the whole point — reflection isn't separate from the practice, it's part of it.
The full session is on our YouTube channel. Come move through the whole thing with us, and notice what reflection can do.
Here's a 45 -second experiment your feet will thank you for. 🦶
Roll just one foot over a foam roller — toward the pinky toe, lift the big toe, then roll it back through — and then set it down and stand. Most people are shocked: the rolled foot feels wider, flatter, more grounded into the floor. More surface area, better balance, a stronger foundation for everything above it.
Your feet are the base of every step, every stair, every workout. At Studio Upgrade we start from the ground up, because better feet mean better balance and posture for years to come.

Ever notice your shoulders aching after a workout, a long day at the desk, or just carrying everything around all day? Here's a simple shoulder stability test you can do against any wall at home — all you need is a resistance band and a little tape.
The tape is your tracking line: as you slide your arms up, if your wrists drift off it, your shoulders are compensating instead of stabilizing. Train this pattern and you'll protect your shoulders for lifting, reaching, and everyday life.
Give it a try and let us know how it felt in the comments! 👇 And if you'd rather move with us in person, we'd love to see you at the studio — book a class at www.IndianapolisPilates.com.
Do you remember Baloo from The Jungle Book? 🐻
You know the scene — that big happy bear scratching his back against a tree. Well, that's exactly the move we're borrowing in this little foam roller release.
Lie back over the roller, and on your inhale, slide one armpit down toward the same-side hip pocket, letting your back glide across the roller. Then side bend the other way. We go four times each direction — and your whole upper back will thank you.
It's one of my favorite feel-good moments from this week's full-body release session, now up on our YouTube channel. Pure tension relief from head to toe. 💛

Every other Friday night, after everyone's gone home, I stay a little longer. 🤍
Tomorrow's one of my Saturdays off, which means my instructors will be the ones welcoming you in — not me. So on these nights, I slow down and take extra care. I wipe down every reformer, fluff the props, straighten the little things nobody notices but everybody somehow feels.
Because whether I'm standing at that door or not, I want you to walk in and feel it — that this space was made ready for you. That you're seen here. That you're taken care of. Always.
Then I turn off the lights and head home, already looking forward to seeing you next week. 💫

🙋 Raise your hand if your hips are always tight!
This clip is from our full Hip Twist Part 2 class on YouTube, and it's one of our favorite hip opening stretches. Cross one leg over the opposite knee, let your legs twist toward the crossed leg so the foot can rest on the floor, and turn your gaze the opposite direction. Simple, effective, and it feels SO good.
Whether you're a beginner or a longtime mover, your hips will thank you. 💛

Your pelvic floor is more intelligent than you think. 🕐
In this clip from our full length Mat Pilates class on YouTube I'm teaching Pelvic Floor Clock Work — and we use the image of a marble balancing on a clock face to find movement most people have never felt before.
This is the kind of cueing that makes Studio Upgrade different. We don't just tell you to move — we give your brain a map. 🧠
When you can feel it, you can control it. And when you can control it, everything changes — your posture, your core, your stability, your confidence.
