Hellgate Roller Derby The official page of the flat track roller derby league in Missoula, Montana. Hellgate Roller Derby Inc.

(HRD) is a self-run, non-profit organization designed exclusively for the purpose of promoting the sport of flat track roller derby in Missoula, Montana and the surrounding communities. The members of HRD are strong, self-motivated athletes who train to the fullest of their individual abilities, respect their teammates and competitors, and love the sport of roller derby. Our goal is to promote strength and self-esteem and to encourage camaraderie and teamwork among all members. We embrace members of all shapes, sizes, backgrounds, and skill levels. Our skaters work to increase their skills through discipline, hard work, and focus. HRD is proud to carry on the tradition of roller derby, and strives to create a physically demanding sport that inspires members of all ages to embrace their inner strength, self-confidence, and competitiveness while entertaining our fans. HRD members are also encouraged to donate their time and/or money to local communities and other nonprofits. We are actively recruiting skaters, referees, non-skating officials, as well as volunteers!

Happy birthday to Harshie! A big ol sweetie pie and a skater that always puts a smile on our faces. She's an unrelenting jammer with a heart of gold. Not to mention she's got some sick derby moves, she makes look so easy. She's such an asset to the team and is always down for some derby soup (iykyk ♨️🛁🍛👯‍♀️).

Harsh Mello #104 Want S'more? has been with Hellgate Roller Derby since 2016, but found her love for the sport on the Cog Blockers with Bellingham Roller Girls back in 2012. 14 years of derby!! ❤️ She has also played for the Donna Party with Sacred City Roller Derby in Sacramento, Shevil Dead with Bay Area Derby in Oakland, and Unforgiven Roller Girls in Bakersfield. We're so happy she made the move to Montana and into our hearts! 🥰

Happy Birthday # 4 Loxx! Loxx has been putting in the WORK and training hard to up her derby skills, and it SHOWS! At the she kiillleeddd it and got lead jammer like a bazillion times in a row.

She's become a speedy jammer with some tricky spin moves up her elbow pads. Loxx always has a kind word to say and is not afraid to express her love for her teammates 🥰

Cheer her on tonight! Hellgate is playing the Copper City Queens at the Butte Civic center!

Happy birthday to #143 Necra Feelz Ya!

Feelz is our head coach and has been with HRD for almost 9 years. Her immense derby knowledge is a great asset to both our team and the Montana derby community as a whole.

We appreciate all the hard work she's put into HRD. Herding our rambunctious skaters and helping build a league culture that is positive and uplifting for all our members.

She's a delight on the track and a big goof. We appreciate all her help in keeping roller derby alive in MT!It's hard not to catch the feels for Feelz after seeing her amazing smile and wonderful personality.

Make sure to do some deep breathing exercises today in celebration of her birthday! We love ya feelz!!

Happy Bout Day!

HEAR YE! HEAR YE! Don thy pantaloons and cinch those corsets, a merry brawl on wheels shall occur-eth on Saturday the 19th of September in the Outdoor Pavilion of the Missoula Fairgrounds!

The Missoula Renaissance Festival is being held the same day, just across the parking lot from us, so it will be a busy day! Extend your medieval merriment and end your quest, sitting down with a drink in the shade, while your Knights (skaters) in Shining Armor (knee-pads)✨ bout for your entertainment!!!

If you wear your renaissance fair costume to our bout, you get $5 dollars off your ticket!

$15 At The Door (unless you're wearing a renaissance fair costume).
Kids 9 and under are free!

(A Mixer is game where skaters come from all over to play each other)

4 PM - Hellgate Hellions Mixer (ages 10 -17): Ravens VS Mammoths
6 PM- Hellgate Roller Derby Mixer: Knights VS Jesters

The Lil' Devils (ages 5-9) will be skating in their debut bout at the HRD Mixer half time! Prepare thyself for the cutest bout imaginable.

HRD is hosting a silent auction during our Bout Day, September 19th at the Missoula Fairgrounds Outdoor Pavilion!

Proceeds earned from HRD’S Silent Auction will go to things like our scholarships for skaters in need, bout and practice space rent, loaner gear for new skaters, travel costs for “away” games, and the general operational costs of our league!

Each item or basket has a paper bid sheet. Participants place bids by writing their name and contact information on the bid sheet.

Bidding will close 15 minutes before the end of the game. Bidders do need not be present to win, but have 24 hours to respond with payment if they win, or the item will go to the next highest bidder.

Hellgate Roller Derby will be hosting a silent auction to help support the continued operation of our league! The auction will be held during our September 19th home bout at the Missoula Fairgrounds. We will announce the winning bids of the auction at the end of the adult bout.

How can you help? We are looking for donated items to include in the auction!
We will be bundling smaller items together into larger themed “baskets” which will be the ultimate auction listings. No item is too small to be helpful! All donors will receive a comped ticket to the September 19th bout, which will be under their name at the ticket booth.

Some examples of great donation items include but are not limited to:

Gift cards for services or experiences like coffee shops, restaurants, sky diving, a pottery lesson, etc.
New and un-used sports equipment, class packs for things like yoga or spin classes or other activities, a nice water bottle, tickets for a paddleheads game etc.
One of a kind items like a hand-made bowl or a painting or print or jewelry
Anything else you can think of that is cool and fun and adds value to our offerings!

Happy birthday, Alicesthesia #131 ! Alice started roller derby with Lilac City in 2006, and has been with Hellgate since our inception - even being on the coaching staff of our first ever bout in 2010!

She makes jamming look effortless and easy as she glides past the blockers. Catch her "blue-steeling" it on the track this coming weekend, sept 19! Her solid and steady presence has been indispensable to the team. We're always glad to Alice on the track!
