I had planned a different post for today, but with what’s going on in the news right now, I couldn’t just post another feel good yoga sequence. More than 1 in 5 women will experience r@pe in their lifetime. Yet men consistently care more about how they themselves are perceived than they do about keeping women safe. They rant about , and yet when given the chance, 5 men who could’ve reported a r@pe chose to participate in it instead. And all they had to do was write essays. Her life is RUINED. But how dare we inconvenience the men who ruined it.
The first and most important thing we learn to practice in yoga is ahimsa, non-harming. Anyone in the yoga world who is not outraged by this isn’t practicing yoga correctly. Ahimsa doesn’t just mean to not cause harm yourself, but to also minimize harm throughout the world wherever possible and to help those who need it. If you want to be a real yogi, fight against injustice, like a young woman being drugged and r@ped and her attackers not being properly punished.
