Tech tip for your XRAY X4! 🪛🛠️⚙️

Did you know that you can use the spur gear and pinion size for setup tuning? And I’m not referring to the gear ratio. The examples below achieve the exact same FDR (6.9) but with either more or less teeth on both ends. In this case, the motor shifts forward or rearward by 2-3mm, which is definitely noticeable, not only for the weight bias of the car, but because of the torque of the motor under acceleration- and braking.

Using a smaller spur and pinion:

• Moves the motor forward
• Shifts weight bias to the front
• Makes the car easier to drive
• Less precise braking feel

Using a bigger spur and pinion:

• Moves the motor rearward
• Shifts weight bias to the rear
• Improves rotation
• More precise braking feel

Please try this setup parameter and let me know what you feel. If you haven’t already! I’m curious to hear your preference! For modified TC outdoors I’ve preferred a smaller spur and pinion as of late, to improve drivability!

Tech tip: Did you know that XRAY now offer complete ECS driveshaft sets for your X4? This makes life easier, since you don't need to order all the parts individually anymore, when you would like to replace your entire front driveshafts. ❗🛠🪛

The part number in question is #305335.

I often get asked, how often I replace the front ECS & rear CVD parts in my cars. For modified racing outdoors, the wear on these parts can be high. So I usually replace them in their entirety, or as minimal, the couplings and pins, every 2-3 races. For carpet racing, and spec classes in particular, these parts can last up to an entire season, especially if you maintain them regularly by cleaning them out, and by re-applying HUDY graphite grease ( #106210) to the couplings.

On my way home from the ETS - Euro Touring Series in Andernach! 🇩🇪 It was a superb weekend for the XRAY team with 3x class wins! Proud of these guys 👏

Personally I had a difficult time, mainly because of no pre-event testing. Could not find pace on this tight & twisty outdoor track!
