Perimenopause can feel like someone changed the operating system without giving you the update notes.
Women may notice sleep disruption, hot flashes, night sweats, mood changes, brain fog, cravings, joint aches, lower recovery, body composition changes, and energy that feels less predictable.
That is why “just eat less and work out harder” can become especially frustrating in this phase.
Hormones matter. They are not an excuse, and they are also not irrelevant.
A mature strategy prioritizes muscle, protein, walking, sleep support, stress management, appropriate training, and recovery. It pays attention to what your body is doing instead of pretending every decade should respond exactly the same way.
You are not required to use a 1998 strategy forever just because it worked once.
