Learning from dead Gurus is like warming your hands on a fire; learning from a living Guru is like sitting on the Fire ~ Tapa
No one better than a living guru to initiate a disciple into the practice of tapa. It is a great comfort to read scriptures, join organisations, adopt masters long gone leaving behind descendants. The safety net of the qualities of love and compassion attributed to these bygone masters comes as a relief to many as they can manoeuvre placidly in these stagnant waters.
Living gurus however have a vitality and act as a catalyst, they check the disciples constantly, keeping them in a high state of alertness so they don’t fall into familiar intellectual or habitual pitfalls. Such a satguru can, in an instant, burn the veil of acquired mindsets, bias, flights of fancy and disproportionate ego, leaving the student disciple with an unclouded clarity accompanied by empathy, compassion and love.
Living gurus make our lives seamless so we wake up from one life into another and continue our learning, often with the same lineage.

Reflections on living yog, personal realisations and leisure activity. Do keep in mind that these are my own musings and the posts provoke thought so readers can form their own understandings, these are not topics for debate...we can leave that to the likes of the Adi Shankaracharaya.

Perceive the Possibility of Infinity
That moment in yogic practice when awareness opens up to the possibility of infinity. The individual on the threshold of the experience, the distilled mind already knowing of its reality…an exquisite vast moment in time indeed. On the threshold of knowing the merging but not yet merged… An awesome awareness of the individual knowing the consciousness can extend beyond the borders of their physical body, extend beyond even the earth and the solar system, into this universe and many universe.

"If the Mind is Strong it Leads the Pran, If the Pran is Strong it Leads the Mind
The play of the pran and mind, those who taste know. Pran has an intelligence that by nature leads inwards. The mind by nature leads outwards; pran moves to the stillness within, the mind engages with the glitter without; pran says lets go home, mind says lets tarry and watch the show; pran immerses in the joy within, mind in the sensuous win.
Pran by nature non-violent is enlivened to lead mind towards dharana.
