CrossFit footwear is a beast of its own. They are designed to be able to handle everything from running to heavy barbell and olympic movements. Not every shoe is a great shoe because of these requirements. We suggest looking into Reebok Nanos, NoBulls, Nike Metcons, Or Inov-8. All of them are great options to keep you safe and performing at your best.
Did you know, most mobility work should take no more than 10-15 minutes, and with stretching of the major muscle groups taking around 60 seconds each. This is why at Octane we use it as a low-intensity way to loosen up, warm-up, and cool-down. Even if there is not a guided cool down, it's still a good idea to dedicate a few minutes post workout to focus on any major areas used during your workout.
"10/10! The atmosphere at Octane is unmatched, and the people are even better! I’ve been able to see such improvements in my life over the past year, and I’ve accomplished things I didn’t think I was capable of because of programming and the support of coaches and members! Would recommend it to anyone considering it!" - Emily H
It happens to the best of us... Feel free to ask for a second (or third) round of explanation lol.

A little Q&A with this week's Member of the Week Cassie Everly @cassie.ev
Why did you start CrossFit? I was a competitive dancer growing up and once I started college I needed a new outlet for my energy. I found videos of crossfitters on YouTube and thought it was really cool, so I decided to try it out. I was hooked from day 1.
Why Octane? I recently moved to Phoenix and found Octane. I immediately felt comfortable and welcomed. I feel that the programming is reasonable and safe and I really enjoy my 5am crew.
What are some new hobbies or activities you have adopted while outside of the gym? I’m currently in medical school and don’t have much time for hobbies, but when I do I like to hike and play golf.
Any advice for new members? I think that CrossFit can be super intimidating at first. My advice would be to ask questions when you are unsure and know that the movements and terms won’t always sound like a foreign language.
How was everyones 21.3????
What's your favorite Octane class? Supercharge, Horsepower, Bodyshop, CrossFit??? Would you like to see more class times for any of these? Drop a comment below.
💪 + 👶 Kids = 💪👶 ... Saturdays Teens/Pre-Teens @ 9:00AM & Kids @ 10:00AM.
A little Q&A with this week's member of the week, Phil Simondet ( @pw_rusty )
Why did you start CrossFit?
It began as a joke between my wife and I! We realized it would actually be a great way to meld our fitness goals (hers being cardio focused, and mine strength) and enable us to work out together.
Octane was our first box, and we were immediately comfortable with and impressed by the coaching and community here.
What are some new hobbies or activities you have adopted while outside of the gym?
Definitely love checking out new-to-us trailheads, planning the next road trip, and hunting down tasty local beer to try.
Any advice for new members?
Go at your own pace, focus on form, and stay as consistent as possible to get the most bang for your buck!
Well we survived 😅 Although Dave seemed to have other plans 😜 Great work Octane Fam 💪 Until next time
Friends don't let friends alone. That is exactly why friends and family are free Saturday's 🏋️🏋️♀️🏋️♂️

A little Q&A with this weeks Member of the Week Tyler Bolton
1. Why did you start CrossFit? To be able to workout with my sisters.
2. Why Octane? close to home. I love the programming and the coaches.
3. What are some new hobbies or activities you have adopted while outside of the gym? Golf golf reading and more golf!
4. Any advice for new members? Don't think you can’t do it. try something new and you will exceed your own expectations. to get something you’ve never had you must do something you’ve never done!
During these COVID times we will not be able to do our fun Friday Night Lights. Instead we are doing battle of the class times.
Obviously, if you are an Open Gym only member you don’t attend classes. However, we would like to extend an invitation to you all to pick a class hour you are able to attend on Fridays and come do the workout with class.
We will be opening up extra spots because we will be running heats so there will be room for you. We will also be adding a 7PM class hour, if needed, for those of you who come in later in the evening. You’ll also be able to do the workout with others and have someone judge you.
Most importantly, the Open isn't about being better than others, it's about seeing where you are at, setting new goals and measuring progress. Come to class and have fun. Let's see how far we have all come together!
Caption contest! Best caption gets A FitAid!
Stop sitting on the Open!!! Get registered. Talk to Coach Brooke for details!
A little Q&A with this week's Member of the Week Alex Holzapfel @tragicauditor
Why did you start CrossFit? In 2010, my coworkers did a trial at CrossFit Lorton near DC and came to work with bloody shins after failed box jumps. They told me I'd love CrossFit, and they were right!
Why Octane? I'm really picky about my Crossfit Boxes. It has to have the right mix of welcoming community, good programing, and fantastic coaching. Octane checks all the boxes.
What are some new hobbies or activities you have adopted while outside of the gym? Nerd alert! I slay virtual dragons online with friends. You may also see me coasting down the canal on a maroon Onewheel.
Any advice for new members? Be consistent and humble. Find your routine and trust that focusing on form and technique will pay you dividends over time. Also... if you're going to be stupid, you gotta be tough.
