A little more wind doesn’t have to mean a lot more stress. As part of our Women’s Program, join Captain Margaret for a hands-on evening focused on building confidence when the breeze is up.
You’ll learn how to read the forecast before you leave the dock, prepare your boat for changing conditions and practice reefing so you’re ready when the wind starts to build.
Whether you’re looking to feel more confident at the helm or simply want more experience in heavier weather, this three-hour session is a great opportunity to build skills in a supportive environment alongside other women sailors.
📅 Thursday, August 13 🕠 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM
The best way to feel comfortable sailing in stronger winds is to practice before you need to. Join us on the water and gain the confidence to handle whatever the forecast brings.

The certifications are why many people sign up.
The week they spend living aboard is why they never forget it.
Seven days of waking up in new harbors.
Cooking meals together.
Learning to navigate, dock, anchor, and plan real passages.
Watching another Puget Sound sunset from the cockpit.
Yes, you'll earn ASA 101, 103, and 104.
But more importantly, you'll leave with the confidence that comes from actually living the cruising lifestyle—not just reading about it.
If your goal is to one day charter your own sailboat, this is where that journey begins.

It's amazing how quickly your priorities change when the forecast is perfect.
One of our favorite things about being an SSC member is that sailing doesn't have to be a big production. You don't have to plan it weeks in advance. You can finish work, grab the keys and be out on the Sound while everyone else is still sitting in traffic.
The texts will still be there when you get back.
Days like this won't.

We're pretty lucky to have such an active racing scene here at Shilshole.
On race nights, the docks come alive. Crews are getting boats ready, talking through the course, making a few last-minute adjustments and catching up with friends before casting off. There's a buzz in the marina that's hard to describe until you've experienced it.
Whether you're joining a Friday Sailfest, racing in Ballard Cup, or hopping aboard for one of the weekend regattas, there's always an opportunity to get out there and be part of it.
Some people come for the competition. Others come for the people. Either way, it's a pretty great way to spend an evening on the water.
Have you ever raced out of Shilshole before??

The best Fourth of July plans don't need much.
A little wind, a little sunshine, good people, and a day on the water.
Wherever you're celebrating today, we hope it's a safe one filled with fresh air, great memories, and time spent doing what you love.
Happy Fourth of July from all of us at Seattle Sailing Club.

Have you ever imagined dropping the lines in the Caribbean, exploring quiet Greek islands, or spending a week sailing somewhere you've only seen in photos?
Getting there takes more than knowing how to sail. It takes knowing how to charter.
Our Chartering Beyond SSC Overnight Clinic is designed to help you make that leap. Over one immersive weekend, you'll learn what it's really like to charter a boat, from checking in with the charter company and planning your route to managing your crew and making decisions underway.
Friday evening begins in the classroom, where you'll cover everything you need to know before taking over a charter yacht. Then you'll spend the night aboard and head out early Saturday morning for two full days on the water, rotating through skipper and crew roles while working through real-world chartering scenarios with Captain Ruddy.
Whether you're dreaming of the Caribbean, the Mediterranean or your first bareboat charter anywhere in the world, this clinic is designed to give you the confidence to take the next step.
