๐ฆ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ // The SBFC 2014 Girls put together a competitive winter futsal season, highlighted by a strong run at the Wilmington Winter Futsal Classic and valuable experience at the USYF South Atlantic Regional Championships.
At the Wilmington Winter Futsal Classic, the team showed strong attacking play early in the tournament. The group opened with an impressive 13โ0 win over SFC Girls White and followed with a 6โ3 victory over SFC Girls, demonstrating their ability to control games and create scoring opportunities.
In the championship match, the girls faced a strong NLA 2014G side and ultimately finished as finalists, falling 7โ2 in the final. Despite the result, reaching the final showcased the teamโs ability to compete at a high level throughout the tournament.
The team later traveled to compete at the USYF South Atlantic Regionals, where they faced strong competition. The group finished 0โ2โ1, recording two losses and one draw during the event. While results were difficult, the experience provided the players with valuable exposure to the pace and intensity required at the regional level.
Competing against high-level opposition continues to be an important part of the development process, and the lessons gained from these matches.

๐ฆ๐๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฑ ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฆ // The SBFC 2015 Girls, coached by Josh Thomas with assistant coach Chad Ellis, put together a strong winter futsal campaign highlighted by a deep run at the Wilmington Winter Futsal Classic.
The group finished 3โ0 in pool play, topping Pool B while scoring 29 goals and conceding just 5. Earning them a spot in the championship match. In the final, the girls faced NLA and battled through a demanding match, ultimately falling 3โ9.
The team then advanced to the USYF South Atlantic Regional Championships, where they competed in the U11G division against Futsal RVA, EFC/DA and CSA Futsal. At Regionals, the SBFC 2015 Girls finished 0โ3, facing a challenging pool that demanded high intensity, quick decision-making, and composure in tight moments.
While results in Charlotte did not go their way, the experience provided valuable exposure to elite competition and highlighted the fine margins at the regional level. The lessons gained: managing pressure, sustaining intensity, and competing against top oppositionโฆwill serve as important building blocks as these players continue their development.

Competing in a mixed U10/U11 division, the group finished 3-0 in pool play, before advancing to the final. In a tightly contested championship match, the boys battled to a 2-2 draw and showed composure under pressure by winning 4-3 in penalty kicks. The weekend showcased the groupโs attacking quality, defensive discipline, and ability to perform in high-pressure moments against older competition.
The team then advanced to the USYF South Atlantic Regionals, where they competed against high-level futsal programs. The team finished 0-3, facing opposition that tested their intensity, speed of play, and decision-making. Despite the results, the experience provided valuable exposure for our players.

At the Wilmington event, the group finished 0โ3 while competing in a mixed U10/U11 girls bracket, consistently playing up against older and more physically mature teams. The weekend provided valuable exposure to higher-tempo play and highlighted important areas of growth in defensive organization, decision-making, and managing pressure against older opposition.
The team then advanced to the USYF South Atlantic Regionals, where they finished 1-3 against strong, established futsal programs. While two players had prior regional experience, the majority of the roster was competing at the regional level for the first time, adding a challenge to the weekend.
The regional matches included a hard-fought games against CSA Futsal (eventual champion), False 8, and FutsalRVA. Competing at this level demanded faster decision-making and sustained intensity.
Despite the results, the experience proved invaluable. For many players, this was their first exposure to elite futsal regional competition, and the lessons gained throughout the winter: embracing adversity, competing against older and top-level opponents, and growing through difficult momentsโฆwill carry forward as these athletes transition back into their outdoor soccer environments.

The group was challenged by the pace, intensity, and discipline required at the regional level. Despite the difficulty of the group, the experience provided valuable exposure to high-pressure moments and elite competition.
For this age group, the winter futsal season offered important lessons in intensity, decision-making, and composure under pressure. The moments experienced across Wilmington and Charlotte will carry forward as the players transition back into their outdoor soccer environments, better prepared for faster play and competitive demands.

The group then competed at the USYF South Atlantic Regionals in Charlotte, where they were placed in Pool A alongside well-established futsal programs. They finished 1โ2โ1, earning 4 points.
The regional weekend included a last-second draw against CSA Futsal 2017G Estella and challenging matches against elite opposition.
For the team, this marked their first-ever regional championship appearance, providing critical exposure to the intensity, speed, and pressure that define futsal.
While results were challenging at times, the lessons gained will play a lasting role in their development.

While the results didnโt fully reflect the effort and development displayed, the experience proved invaluable. Competing at this level challenged the playersโ composure, intensity, and confidence, laying a strong foundation for their continued growth in futsal and as they transition back into the outdoor season.
