Field Rifle Comp Day

First up will be 22lr Rimfire with targets at 25m and 50m shot in timed various field positions. 42 shots. (If you have a 22 magnum or a 17hmr you can still shoot)

Followed by Centrefire with targets at 25m, 50m and 100m again timed in various field positions with 21 shots (half match).

Bring your favourite hunting rifles and have a go, the club has a CZ 22lr rimfire for hire if you don’t have suitable rifle and you want to have a go.

If you just want practice/sight in there will be available benches.

This weekend kicks off on Saturday with Target Pistol, some shooters getting practise for the State Shoot in August.
Sunday is the popular Metal Silhouette for the Pistol and Rifle shooters.
Come along early to help set up. Visitors welcome.

Nick 13 (Dave) from Bowen Club attended the Cowboy Action Shooting State Championships held at Calliope over this weekend. The competition main match involved 12 stages over 2 days of shooting. Nick came 2nd in his age category and 13th outright. Two procedural penalties (20 seconds) cost him the title as he shot an otherwise clean match (no misses) coming only 6 seconds behind 1st place.

This weekend kicks off on Saturday with a rifle favourite - Bench Rest. (Both rimfire & centrefire).
Followed on Sunday by Single Action. Yes it is on.

We only had 3 shooters this month which is the minimum number of shooters required to hold a completion. The conditions were typical Bowen with wind constantly changing direction and speed. We had some mixed results, some targets good and some not so good with Gino trying to work out his sight settings on his new rifle and Allan finding some of his old form. Still a very enjoyable shoot.

Field Rifle Results

Today we only had 4 shooters competing in the Field Rifle Rimfire Competition with conditions pretty good for shooting 22LR.
1st targets are shot Off Hand/Rapid Fire at 25 metres, 3 shot in 15 seconds twice at one than the same again at the second target and you score your 5 best shots out of 6 for each target with a possible of 100.10 points.

Next targets are again shot at 25 metres Off Hand Slowfire, 5 shots at the 1st target than another 5 shots at the 2nd target in 15 minutes for both targets, scoring all 10 shots with a possible of 100.10.

At 50 metres the 1st set of targets are shot Standing Post/Supported, 5 shots each at 2 targets in 15 minutes with all 10 shots scored with a possible of 100.10.
