The Canberra Bowling Club is pleased to offer our facility for functions, including Bare Foot bowls, B.B.Q. and general get togethers, all functions will be conducted under COVID -19 Government guidelines with particular emphasis on social distancing

Monday is Greenkeeper's day, no bowls without special permission. Mixed social lawn bowls are organised and played every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday except when special events such as championships, pennants, carnivals or sports days take precedence. Special conditions apply. Wednesday and Saturday lawn bowls commence at 10:00 am; names in by 9:30 am. Thursday 12 enders commence at 10:00 am; names in by 9:30 am, Tuesday sessions commence 12.30 pm; names in by 11.30 am. Friday session starts 12.30 pm, names in by 11.30 am. Sunday session starts at 10.30 am, names in by 9.30 am except when Pennants are in progress, everyone welcome at all sessions.

Join us for a night of laughs!
Canberra Bowling Club is hosting a FREE comedy night featuring local comedian Sarah Stewart along with undiscovered stars.

Sarah’s comedy routine comes from her 40 years as a midwife and a lifetime of stories worth telling. After a late career leap into comedy during COVID, Sarah has gone from sold out shows to a “Best in Comedy” nomination at Sydney Fringe. Her performance comprises, raw, and delightfully risqué reflections on ageing, motherhood, marriage, the labour ward and becoming a granny.
It’s a warm, witty, night of comedy that proves it’s never too late to take the stage and make people laugh.

In Australia up to 2 million lawn bowlers hit the green each year. There are more than 250,000 registered club members and over 500,000 total participants when counting casual players.
And no wonder. It is a gentle, low impact activity, accessible to all ages and abilities, relatively inexpensive and heaps of fun.

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED TO TRY LAWN BOWLS?
Canberra Bowling Club is running a “Come and Try” event on Sunday, 27th September at 10am. You will learn how to roll the bowl and some basics of the game. You’ll be amongst other “Rookie Rollers” so it won’t be scary, just lots of fun.

Congratulations to both the men and women’s teams for winning this week.
The ladies played Tuggeranong 1 and are now sitting 3rd on the Grade 2 competition ladder of 8 teams. The men played Weston Creek and are now sitting at the top of the competition ladder.

Part 4: The history of Canberra Bowling Club

DID YOU KNOW?
Due to structural problems and financial difficulties between 1976 and 1994 the club was demolished and some of the land sold for the nearby townhouse development. The new Canberra Bowling Club building and two refurbished greens were opened on 30th April 1995
ANOTHER FUN FACT
The movie “Crackerjack” was screened at the new clubhouse in 2002 with the star Mick Malloy present. The movie is an Australian comedy about a cynical slacker who is forced to play lawn bowls at a local club to protect his free inner-city car parking space, ultimately helping the elderly members fight off a greedy property developer.
