Some people leave a lasting mark on a club, and Andrew “Pants” Downie is certainly one of them. 💙

After years of incredible dedication and service, the Hobart Chargers farewell one of our most valued club people, Andrew Downie.

A Charger through and through, Pants first joined us in 2017 as Team Manager of our Women’s program before moving across to the Men’s side. From his time serving on the Board to his countless hours behind the scenes, Andrew has been a constant presence and an invaluable part of the Chargers family.

From training nights and game days to organising countless road trips, Pants has always gone above and beyond to make sure our players and coaches have everything they need. His efforts were also part of our historic 2022 NBL1 South Championship, a moment he will forever share with the club.

Chargers player and captain Jacob Richards shared a few words of appreciation for Pants and the impact he’s had on the team over the years.

“Downie, you truly are a Hobart Charger through and through. We appreciate all the organising you’ve done over the years and how smooth our road trips have been. I’ve always said we are a great road team and that comes down to you making it effortless for us.”

And of course, Jacob couldn’t let him go without one final cheeky mention…

“We might not miss your jokes but we appreciate you always trying to have a laugh.”

A die-hard Collingwood supporter, a helping hand whenever needed and, above all, a genuinely great person to have around the club, Pants has been so much more than a team manager.

Pants, the work you’ve put into this club has never gone unnoticed. Your commitment, generosity and unwavering support have meant more to the Chargers family than words can express.

From everyone at the Hobart Chargers, thank you for everything you’ve given to our club. You’ve been part of so many special memories, and you’ll always be part of the Chargers family.🦏💙

As Anthony Drmic officially calls time on an incredible basketball career, the Hobart Chargers would like to recognise and thank him for his contribution to our club and the game we all love 💙

An NBL Champion, 279-game NBL veteran and one of Australian basketball’s fiercest competitors, Drmic has built an outstanding career defined by passion, determination and an unwavering commitment to the game.

Over the past two seasons, we have been fortunate enough to have Drmic pull on the Chargers jersey, bringing a wealth of experience, leadership and professionalism to our program.

His impact extended far beyond the scoreboard. From his competitiveness and work ethic on court to the knowledge and guidance he shared with those around him, Drm has left a lasting impression on our players, coaches and the wider Chargers community.

While his playing career may have come to an end, the impact he has made on basketball, both here in Tasmania and across Australia, will continue to be felt for years to come.

From everyone at the Hobart Chargers, thank you, Drm , for everything you have given to our club over the past two seasons. We are incredibly grateful to have been a part of your basketball journey 💙🦏
