For Brain Injury Awareness Week, Tom and Jess share what protective gear and safety precautions actually do when things go wrong. An important message shared by Tom, who 5 years ago, suffered a traumatic brain injury during a ride with his mates.

"My name is Luke. I used to race motocross when I was younger and was a boilermaker over the years.

Over 10 years ago, I had an accident on a work holiday and fell off a balcony. Now I can walk a little bit, but not independently. I use a gutter frame most of the time because my balance is a bit off.

I’ve learnt that people see you differently and treat you differently using a wheelchair. Using a wheelchair has opened my eyes. This is something I want to bring awarness to this week.

RoboFit have been fantastic. I've been working hard to improve my walking and I can’t wait to keep working towards walking independently. Hopefully, RoboFit are going to be the piece at the end of my puzzle!"

This week's theme is many pathways, one community. At RoboFit we are here to support those strive to reach their goals. Let's go Luke!!

Last year during Brain Injury Awareness Week we spoke with Tom, and his story received so much support from all of you.

Five years ago Tom had a motorbike crash. Since then he's worked hard through his therapies and home program to keep making progress.

This year we wanted to catch up with him so you can all see what he's been up to. He's now walking up to 7,000 steps a day, helping out more on the farm, and building his independence in everyday activities.

Proud doesn't come close when we look back at how far Tom has come.

Keep an eye out for more videos this week as we share important messages for Brain Injury Awareness Week.

In November 2016, Mitch suffered a hypoxic brain injury during an operation. He spent 3 weeks in a coma and when he woke up, he lost his ability to do most everyday movements and tasks.

Since then, Mitch has fought to regain indepedence, from learning how to talk again, to move again and to rebuild his life step by step. He has never given up.

Mitch lives by this motto of "never give up". His journey is a powerful reminder of the journies taken following brain injury, the visible and invisble struggles, and the strength it takes to overcome such challenges.

This Brain Injury Awareness Week, we celebrate and appreciate Mitch for sharing his story and continue cheering him on every step of the way!

A great day in Sydney last week with the team at Grace Children’s Therapy!

A big thank you to the Grace OT team for having us in to share more about RoboFit, our approach to neurological rehabilitation and the technology we use to support our clients.

We spent some time exploring the HAL technology, including the Lower Limb HAL and Single Joint HAL, before getting the team hands-on with the devices themselves.

It was great to see everyone so engaged and curious, asking questions and experiencing the technology firsthand.

We love getting the opportunity to connect with other allied health professionals, share what we do and learn from each other along the way. Reach out to [email protected] if you or your team are interested in having a demonstration!

Today is Neuro Rehab Awareness Day.

Here's what we want more people to know: the brain keeps learning. That's true for every one of us, all the time. Every skill you've picked up as an adult is your nervous system rewiring itself.

For people living with a neurological condition, neuroplasticity does something bigger. It helps the nervous system build new pathways long after an injury or a diagnosis, and long after many people have been told they've plateaued.

Neuroplasticity responds to repetition, intensity and task-specific practice. Real volume, real effort, done consistently.

That's what intensive therapy at RoboFit is built around. Physiotherapy, exercise physiology and neuro-controlled exoskeleton technology, delivered in concentrated blocks so the nervous system gets the practice it needs to rewire.
