NATIONAL DAY FOR TRUTH & RECONCILIATION

We acknowledge the significant impact residential schools have had on the Indigenous community and culture in Canada. This day provides an opportunity for each of us to pause, recognize and honour the individuals who have survived these schools, the thousands of lives that were lost and children who did not return home.

Class will run as normal on Tuesday, September 30th.

In honour and respect of this day, we encourage our students and our community to wear orange and take time to honour the thousands of survivors of residential schools.

Introducing our 2026/27 T.E.A.M students 💫

Mentorship is a key component in our commitment to building confident leaders for the future. Our Teacher Education and Training Program (T.E.A.M) is instrumental in providing aspiring dance teachers with the foundational knowledge and experience necessary to pursue higher education in the field of dance. 

T.E.A.M Students assist alongside Crossings faculty in a variety of class levels and styles and are evaluated throughout the year by their T.E.A.M mentor. This highly informative and practical program provides students with a deep understanding of pedagogical practices and mentorship. Students who are interested in pursuing a career in dance teaching gain first-hand experience to explore and hone their skills. Past T.E.A.M students have found they were well prepared for University dance programs and Teaching Associates in ISTD and RAD.

This mat-based class integrates Pilates principles with Somatic education techniques developed by Thomas Hanna, tailored for adults seeking to maintain or improve functional movement. The class emphasizes neuromuscular retraining to release chronic tension patterns while reinforcing core stability, mobility, and balance.

OUR LOGO draws from art history. The circle and intersecting threads represent unity and wholeness. The lines in our logo represent movement, dance, and intersections of our local and wider community. The cross at the centre represents our roots in faith-based dance and our mission to nurture the whole dancer, body, mind, and spirit.

Crossings is about more than just great dancing. It is about your child finding a place to grow, to fulfill their dance dreams, and to be nurtured in a community that respects the whole person (body, mind and spirit). A community committed to innovation in dance training and passionate about enriching the dance experience.

We have always been, and will continue to be, a place of intersection between: faith and art, tradition and innovation, and technique and artistry. Today we are also recognized for influencing teacher education, mentoring future dance artists and integrating strength and conditioning to develop healthy and whole dancers.

Introducing our 2026/27 CYDC Company Dancers 👏👏👏

Meet the incredible young artists who make up Crossings Youth Dance Company!

We are so excited to watch this team grow, create, connect, and dance with purpose throughout the year 💫 Here’s to a season of deepening artistry, meaningful relationships, bold challenges, and performing with intention and purpose ❤️

Crossings Youth Dance Company (aka. CYDC) has been back in the studio since August preparing for our 2026/27 season! There are no words to describe the JOY, PASSION & DEDICATION these dancers bring to their art form 💕 

This inspiring youth dance company is a Calgary faith-based performance group that provides an outlet for young dancers to develop their artistic skill and gain performance experience. Through mentorship of the whole dancer (body, mind, spirit) CYDC hopes to expand the dancers understanding and integration of faith and art ❤︎

Keep an eye out for CYDC performances around Calgary this year!
