Day 16: Lake Marian & Key Summit

“Root root city b*$%h” - the anthem for the hike up to Lake Marian 🤣

We started the hike to Key Summit from the opposite side of the Routeburn Track, and it was easy peasy in comparison to the other hikes we had trekked. We could also see Lake Marian (where we had been that morning) from the top of Key Summit, so that was pretty neat (picture 6)!

It was a perfectly beautiful little day for some hikes 🫶🏼 Sun was out, a little bit of a breeze, views for days!

Day 14: West Coast to Queenstown

We were supposed to spend more time on the west coast, but we loved Queenstown so much that we decided to go back and spend more time there. No regrets at all!

Day 12 & 13: Queenstown to the West Coast
… and more rain

1. The Wanaka Tree

8. Franz Josef Glacier (we also hiked to Fox Glacier, but you couldn’t see anything… classic)

We also went and saw Callery Gorge, but I don’t think I got a picture of that one…

Day 11: Routeburn Shelter ➡️ Harris Saddle & Conical Hill

This hike changed my brain chemistry for the day. It filled my soul. It was everything I ever needed. Chefs kiss 💋

This was one of our most favourite days while on the South Island. Do not miss it!

Day 10: Shotover Jet & Roy’s Peak feat. The Sun ☀️

The morning started with the Shotover Jet near Queenstown. It was a beautiful day for a fun, spinning boat ride!

Then we headed Wanaka to hike Roy’s Peak. This was our second day of nice weather and our first view of all the mountains and beauty of the South Island. This hike is in the top four, and a definite must do if you are in the South Island.
She’s tough - it’s a ton of up and then a ton of down, and it was a cooker - but so worth it!
