We are a Canadian small business and we support other Canadian small businesses and products. Although we source Canadian products whenever possible the truth is that most bicycles and bicycle accessories are now manufactured in Asia.

I'm seeing a lot of controversial news items lately around cycling and e-cycling, which are not and should not be controversial in the least but that's the media for you.

At I-Cycle Electric Bike Company we carry legal electric assisted bicycles that are Class 1 or Class 2, we do not carry unlocked e-bikes or e-motos that are illegal for on road use under current provincial legislation.

There's a lot of negative press about e-bikes lately and it lumps electric assisted bicycles that are completely legal in with E-motos which are not legal under existing legislation, let alone pending legislation. If it can't be pedaled, goes more than 32 kph and weighs more than 100 lbs., it's an electric moped/E-moto which needs a license, insurance and registration.
The current legislation for electric assisted bicycles is just fine the way it is, bad behavior by a small minority of riders is an enforcement issue, the same as any bad behavior is an enforcement issue under existing laws.
