A special visit at Richmond Rockets today!

We were very pleased to welcome Jonathan Guilmette to our club to observe our training and spend some time with our coaching team.

Jonathan is a three-time Canadian Olympian and three-time Olympic medallist in short track speed skating. He won Olympic gold in the 5,000m relay and silver in the 500m at the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics, followed by another silver in the relay at the 2006 Turin Olympics. He has also earned multiple World Championship medals and has extensive experience in high-performance coaching, including serving as head coach of Japan’s national short track team.

Jonathan currently serves as Manager of High Performance Sport at the Olympic Oval at the University of Calgary.

Beyond his incredible achievements as an athlete, his experience in coaching and high-performance sport makes this a valuable learning opportunity for our coaching team. We hope to learn from his expertise, exchange ideas, and continue developing our coaching knowledge and training practices to better support our skaters.

We’re grateful to have him visit Richmond Rockets and look forward to learning from his experience and insights!
