Not every piece of railway equipment is something you see every day. 🛤️

In this edition of our Road & Rail series, we're showcasing one of the few active Harsco GO4S Undercutters operating in Canada. After nearly two years of restoration, testing, and upgrades, this specialized machine is back in service helping Class 1 railways improve track performance and safety.

By removing ballast from beneath the track without requiring a full track rebuild, undercutting restores proper drainage, improves track stability, and extends the life of railway infrastructure.

At Universal Rail, we're proud to invest in specialized equipment that helps keep rail networks operating safely and efficiently.

For the past few years, members of our Road & Rail Equipment team have been proud to support the Kettle Valley Railway.

As a nonprofit organization and home to one of only three operational steam locomotives in Canada, their work helps preserve an important part of our rail heritage.

A big thank you to Brad and his team for the care and dedication it takes to maintain and operate this historic equipment so it can be enjoyed by future generations. If you have a spare afternoon, we encourage you to stop by and experience a piece of rail history firsthand.
