The “Mighty Blue” Pt 1

Coach Chris had the privilege of leading the Blue Team at the Winter Games. The team was comprised of 17 extremely talented athletes of varying ages, competing across multiple disciplines. In the ring divisions, athletes competed in K1 and Low Kick. On the Tatami, they showcased their skills in Kicklight, Point Sparring, Weapons, Musical Weapons, and Forms.

Alongside him was co-coach — a true artist in her craft — specializing in point sparring, weapons, musical weapons, and forms. Together, these two talented coaches built a strong and supportive foundation between coach and athlete, creating an environment rooted in trust, discipline, and belief.

The days were long and the hours demanding, but the results were extraordinary.

Through teamwork, dedication, and unwavering encouragement, they guided their athletes to become the most decorated kickboxing team at the Winter Games. It was truly a collective effort. Friendships were formed, memories were made, and a powerful sense of unity carried the team forward.

The Blue Team demonstrated unmatched spirit, rallying behind every athlete and coach for each event. Their chant echoed throughout the competition:

“Strong kicks. Strong crew. Nobody beats the Mighty Blue.”

This achievement stands as a true testament to the commitment, leadership, and talent these two coaches brought to the team — and to the heart and determination of every athlete who stepped onto the mat and into the ring.

A heartfelt thank you to the Ontario Winter Games, , and the dedicated volunteers and staff who made this opportunity possible. Your support and organization created an unforgettable experience — one that stands as the most memorable of my coaching career to date.

To our very own Luca “The Bazooka,”

You don’t just train — you live this sport. Whether it’s in the gym, at home, or on the beaches of Aruba, if the day ends in “Y,” you’re putting in the work. Early mornings. Extra rounds. No shortcuts. No excuses.

As your DMTK community, we see it. We see the discipline. The hunger. The fire. We’ve watched you step into competition time and time again. We’ve celebrated your victories and stood behind you through every lesson. And we say it loud and proud — you are ours.

This weekend at the Ontario Winter Games, the rest of Ontario got a front-row seat to what we’ve known all along.

You are built different.

Friday, you stepped into your very first Ring low kick match and left it all out there — fearless, relentless, composed — earning a hard-fought SILVER medal.

Saturday, you hit the Tatami mats for your Kicklight semi-final and took control. Big shots. Smart movement. Total command. You didn’t just compete — you dominated. That win punched your ticket straight to the finals.

And Sunday?

Sunday you fought like an absolute warrior.

Against a tough, worthy opponent, you went the distance, dug deep, and showed championship heart. When it was all said and done, you stood tall and brought home the GOLD.

From silver to gold in one weekend.
From contender to champion.
From hardworking athlete to Ontario Winter Games legend.

Huge shout-out to your OWG coaches, and Thank you for leading with trust, belief, and unwavering support. You gave Luca exactly what he needed to rise to the moment.

Luca is the definition of train hard, fight harder.

The work.
The mindset.
The grit.
The heart.

We could not be prouder.

The Bazooka doesn’t just fire — he explodes. 💥
