🌟 FOUNDATION ACADEMY | A Perfect Ending to an Incredible Season! 🌟

What a truly unforgettable morning as we brought the curtain down on another remarkable season for our JUNIOR TYKES FOUNDATION ACADEMY.

Today wasn’t just our final training session of the 2025/26 season… it was a morning filled with smiles, football, memories, laughter and emotion as we said farewell to someone who has helped shape our football club for over three decades.

Before a football was even kicked, everyone gathered together to celebrate the incredible contribution of CHRIS DUDLEY, who officially retires after an astonishing 31 years of dedicated service to Junior Tykes Football Club.

Chris has been with us from the very beginning. When I founded JUNIOR TYKES FOOTBALL CLUB back in 1995, Chris was one of the very first people to join the journey. Over the years he has worn so many different hats - proud football parent, coach, team manager, committee member and, most recently, one of the driving forces behind our Foundation Academy.

For the last decade, Chris has devoted countless Saturday mornings to helping hundreds of young footballers take their very first steps into the game. When we rebranded and launched our new-look FOUNDATION ACADEMY in 2020, Chris embraced every challenge with enthusiasm, patience and a genuine love for helping children develop.

His kindness, encouragement and calm approach have helped create an Academy that we are all immensely proud of.

Today, more than 100 young footballers proudly pulled on their Junior Tykes colours for one final session this season, and there couldn’t have been a more fitting tribute to Chris than seeing pitch after pitch full of children laughing, learning and simply enjoying their football.

Those smiling faces are a legacy that Chris should be incredibly proud of.

⚽ One More Saturday of Smiles

Following the presentations and speeches, it was time to do what we do best…

PLAY FOOTBALL!

The atmosphere throughout the morning was absolutely fantastic.

Every pitch was bursting with energy as players threw themselves into every activity, every challenge and every small-sided game. Friendships continued to grow, confidence continued to blossom and, as always, there were plenty of goals, celebrations, brilliant tackles, fantastic saves and moments that reminded us exactly why grassroots football is so special.

To make the morning even better, the sunshine finally decided to make an appearance, giving us the perfect backdrop for our final Academy session of another wonderful year.

It was fantastic to see such a huge turnout once again, proving just how much these Saturday mornings mean to so many of our families.

🌱 Looking Back… and Looking Forward

As another season comes to an end, it’s incredible to look back at everything we’ve achieved together over the last twelve months.

This year has seen us continue to grow bigger and stronger than ever before.

One of our proudest achievements has been successfully developing SIX brand new Under 7 teams, including the formation of our fantastic new Under 7 Girls Team. Watching these young footballers grow in confidence, ability and love for the game has been an absolute privilege for every coach involved.

Now it’s time for a well-earned six-week summer break, giving our coaches, volunteers, parents and players the opportunity to recharge before we begin another exciting chapter.

When September arrives, many of our Academy members will take their biggest step yet as they move into competitive Under 7 football. It’s always a proud but emotional moment watching them leave the Academy, knowing they’re ready for the next stage of their football journey.

That is exactly what our Foundation Academy is all about.

❤️ A New Chapter

September will feel a little different.

For the first time in 31 years, there won’t be a Coach Chris standing on the sidelines.

That thought alone is hard to believe.

While Chris may no longer be setting out the cones or leading sessions every Saturday morning, his influence will always remain part of Junior Tykes Football Club. The values he has helped build, the friendships he has made and the hundreds upon hundreds of children whose lives he has touched will ensure that his legacy lives on for many years to come.

Chris, you’ll always be part of the Junior Tykes family, and you’ll always have a home here.

As a little surprise to finish the season, there was one final announcement…

☀️ SUMMER SUNSHINE, SMILING FACES & ANOTHER MEMORABLE MORNING AT THE FOUNDATION ACADEMY! ⚽❤️

Another Saturday morning could only mean one thing… FOOTBALL IS BACK!

With another fantastic turnout at the Foundation Academy, our young footballers arrived full of energy, excitement and ready to enjoy another morning doing what they love most. As always, the atmosphere around the Academy was incredible, with smiles everywhere you looked, parents cheering from the sidelines and coaches helping every player continue their football journey.

Although the temperatures gradually climbed throughout the morning, nothing could dampen the enthusiasm shown by every single child. Once again, the Academy was full of laughter, learning and plenty of unforgettable football moments.

⚽ UNDER 7 GREEN SQUAD CONTINUE THEIR 3v3 PREPARATIONS
While our UNDER 7 GIRLS were taking on our UNDER 8 GIRLS in a friendly fixture, it was back to business on the training pitch for our UNDER 7 GREEN Squad.

With the new season edging ever closer, today’s session focused on preparing the players for the exciting world of 3v3 football.

Two mini pitches were created to provide plenty of opportunities for match play, with every player taking part in three competitive games. The smaller format encouraged quick thinking, clever movement, confident dribbling and lots of opportunities to get on the ball.

It was fantastic to watch the progress every player has made over the last few months. The confidence, teamwork and football intelligence on display continue to improve every single week, and it’s clear to see how much these young players are developing.

Two players who particularly stood out were EYOALE and KIT, who both produced outstanding performances throughout the morning. Their work rate, determination and willingness to help their teammates were exceptional, while their quality on the ball made them a joy to watch.

At the end of another excellent session, our UNDER 7 GREEN Squad MVP Awards were presented to:

Both boys showed fantastic attitudes from start to finish, worked incredibly hard and fully deserved their recognition.

☀️ THE SUMMER HEAT ARRIVES!
The first few sessions were played in almost perfect football conditions, but as the morning continued, so did the sunshine!

Temperatures quickly began to rise, meaning regular drinks breaks became essential to keep everyone refreshed and safe.

Despite the growing heat, the effort from every player never dropped for a second. There were tired legs, rosy cheeks and plenty of sweat, but every child continued to work hard, encourage one another and give absolutely everything for their team.

🔥 ANOTHER HIGH-ENERGY MORNING OF COACHING
As always, COACH PAUL led our enthusiastic UNDER 4s and UNDER 5s, introducing our youngest Academy players to football through exciting games, challenges and plenty of smiles.

Meanwhile, COACH CHRIS and COACH KYLE took charge of our more advanced Academy groups, delivering another fast-paced session designed to challenge every player both technically and mentally.

From dribbling and passing to quick decision-making, movement and finishing, every activity pushed the players to become better footballers while making sure they enjoyed every second along the way.

By the end of the sessions there was one thing everyone could agree on…
The coaches had certainly earned their rest!

Those bright red faces told the story of another brilliant morning where players and coaches alike gave absolutely everything despite the soaring temperatures.

Every Saturday reminds us why the Foundation Academy is so special.

It’s not just about scoring goals, winning games or collecting trophies.

It’s about building confidence in children who are finding their feet. It’s about making lifelong friendships, learning to work together, showing respect, overcoming challenges and watching young footballers grow into fantastic teammates and even better people.

Week after week, we see players arriving a little taller, a little louder and a little more confident than they were the week before. Those small moments of progress are what make every Saturday worthwhile.

A huge thank you goes to all of our incredible coaches, volunteers and parents who continue to give up their time to create such a positive environment for every child. Your support allows these young footballers to make memories that will stay with them for years to come.

As another brilliant Saturday comes to an end, we leave with tired legs, sun-kissed faces and countless smiles, already looking forward to doing it all again next weekend.

🌤️ FOOTBALL IS BACK! ⚽💛 JUNIOR TYKES RETURN TO ACTION AFTER THE HEATWAVE! 💪🔥

After last week’s disappointing cancellation due to the extreme heat, it was fantastic to see our FOUNDATION ACADEMY back where they belong—out on the pitch, enjoying their football! 🌤️⚽

The cooler temperatures made for perfect playing conditions, and the excitement was clear to see from the moment our players arrived. Across all three sessions, the pitches were full of energy, laughter and determination as our Junior Tykes threw themselves back into training after an unexpected week away.
It was brilliant to see so many smiling faces, plenty of hard work and even a few new members joining the ever-growing Junior Tykes family! 💛🖤

🌟 Coach PAUL’s Group Impress Once Again!
Coach PAUL’S group welcomed three brand-new players to the Academy today, and we’d like to give a huge JTFC WELCOME to JAX, MASON & SKYE! 👏💛

The session focused on improving individual skills and technique before the players took part in some exciting 1v1 racing challenges, encouraging quick feet, confidence and positive attacking play.

The improvement throughout the session was fantastic to see, with every player giving maximum effort and encouraging one another before finishing with an entertaining game where all the hard work came together.

🏆 MVP: ARLO
Today’s MVP award goes to ARLO, who produced an outstanding display during the final game. Despite regularly coming up against players almost twice his size, he never backed down, showing incredible strength, brilliant technique and bags of determination every time he stepped onto the ball. A fantastic performance and a thoroughly deserved winner! ⭐👏

🔥 Coaches CHRIS & KYLE Turn Up the Intensity!
Meanwhile, our 1st Team and 2nd Team groups were kept busy as COACHES CHRIS & KYLE delivered another pair of high-energy sessions packed with challenges, technical work and competitive football.

As always, the end-of-session matches were played at full speed, with every player eager to show what they’d learned throughout the morning. The determination, commitment and desire to win were there for everyone to see!

If you’ve ever watched COACH KYLE’S group, you’ll know one thing—they certainly don’t hold back! 💪⚽ Every tackle was fiercely contested, every goal celebrated and every player gave absolutely everything right until the final whistle.

We also welcomed three new players into these groups today, so a massive JTFC WELCOME goes to JORDAN, OAKLEY & ELLIOTT! We hope you’ve all enjoyed your first session and can’t wait to see you back with us again very soon! 💛

Week after week, it’s not just about scoring goals or winning games—it’s about building confidence, making friends, working hard and enjoying every minute on the football pitch. Today’s sessions had all of that in abundance.

Seeing so many smiling faces back together after last week’s cancellation was a brilliant reminder of what makes our Academy so special. 🔥⚽ FOUNDATION ACADEMY RECAP ⚽🔥

☀️ HOT WEATHER, HIGH ENERGY!

The mini heatwave continued into the weekend, which meant one thing for our FOUNDATION ACADEMY members — plenty of football, plenty of energy, and plenty of drinks breaks! ☀️💦

Despite the soaring temperatures, every player gave 100%, showing fantastic effort, determination and enthusiasm throughout another action-packed morning at the Academy.

👧 U7s GIRLS SHINE AGAINST POGMOOR

First up were our UNDER 7s GIRLS, who welcomed our friends from POGMOOR for an entertaining friendly fixture.

Both teams started brightly, producing wave after wave of attacks and some excellent football. With temperatures rising, three drinks breaks were needed throughout the game — quickly nicknamed “the World Cup breaks” by the players! 🏆

As the match progressed, the TYKES GIRLS began to show their growing experience and confidence. Their teamwork, movement and determination helped them finish the game strongly and produce some excellent passages of play.

Goals for the Tykes came from GRACE, INDIE and ENELYA, but every player played their part in a fantastic team performance.

A special mention goes to EVIE, who picked up the coveted LASS OF THE GRASS award after an outstanding display. After taking a break from football, she returned with a brilliant performance full of effort, confidence and determination. WELL DONE EVIE! 👏

💚 U7s GREENS CONTINUE TO GROW

Our U7s GREEN squad also enjoyed another successful morning under the guidance of COACH CHRIS.

The squad continues to grow in both numbers and quality, and we were delighted to welcome another new player, FINLEY, to the Academy family. A huge welcome, FINLEY! 👋⚽

With players now competing for places in our upcoming 5v5 teams, the effort levels and commitment throughout the session were outstanding. Every player worked hard to impress, creating a fantastic training environment.

This week’s MVP award went to JOEY, whose hard work, attitude and performance stood out throughout the session. A thoroughly deserved winner. WELL DONE JOEY! 👏🏅

🔴⚫⚪ THREE GROUPS RETURN TO ACTION

Our 11:00am sessions saw the return of our three-group format, with RED, BLACK and WHITE all taking to the freshly-cut pitches.

Following a busy week of school SPORTS DAYS, the playing surface looked fantastic and the players certainly made the most of it. The quality of football on display was excellent, with lots of smiles, goals and great teamwork throughout the morning.

We were also delighted to welcome two new Academy members. A huge JTFC WELCOME goes to SPENCER and MITCHELL. We hope your time at the Academy is a long, enjoyable and memorable one! ❤️🖤

What an action-packed Saturday morning it was for our brilliant Junior Tykes Foundation Academy players, with football taking place both at Academy headquarters and over at Wombwell!

🏟️ UNDER 5s AT WOMBWELL!

While our UNDER 4s remained back at the Academy, our UNDER 5s made the short trip to visit our friends from Wombwell for what turned out to be a fantastic tournament experience.

We proudly sent three teams to represent Junior Tykes — the YELLOWS, WHITES and REDS — and every single player did themselves, their coaches and the club proud.

🟡 YELLOWS CROWNED CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNERS! 🏆

A huge WELL DONE goes to our YELLOW team, who produced an outstanding morning of football, winning all of their games and being crowned CHAMPIONS LEAGUE WINNERS!

From the first whistle to the final game, the Yellows showed fantastic teamwork, energy, determination and some brilliant attacking football. For such a young age group, the quality on show was amazing, with some excellent goals, great passing and plenty of smiles along the way.

What a fantastic achievement — CHAMPIONS! 🟡🏆👏

🔴⚪ BRILLIANT EFFORTS FROM OUR REDS AND WHITES!

It wasn’t just the Yellows who impressed, as our RED and WHITE teams also had a morning to be very proud of.

Both teams played some fantastic football, showed great confidence on the ball and worked incredibly hard in every game. There were some brilliant goals, strong tackles, brave defending and lots of moments that showed just how much these players are improving every single week.

A massive WELL DONE to all three teams for representing Junior Tykes in such a positive way. The future is looking very bright! 🌟⚽

A huge thank you goes to our friends at Wombwell for hosting a great morning of football and giving our young players the chance to enjoy tournament football in a fun and friendly environment.

Opportunities like this are fantastic for the children’s development, confidence and love of the game.

Meanwhile, back at the Academy, Coach CHRIS stayed behind to lead our UNDER 4s session, and what a brilliant session it turned out to be!

The group welcomed some brand-new faces to the Junior Tykes family, with FILIP, LENNY, TEDDY, RYDER and INARA all making their first appearances.

👣 UNDER 4s SHOW OFF THEIR FOOTWORK!

Our UNDER 4s worked really hard throughout the morning, focusing on their footwork, movement and confidence with the ball.

It was fantastic to see so many young players getting touches on the ball, listening to the coaches and enjoying themselves out on the pitch. There were plenty of smiles, lots of energy and some brilliant little moments of skill on show.

🏆 MINI TOURNAMENT FUN!

After returning from a successful trip to Wombwell with the UNDER 5s, COACH PAUL joined the UNDER 4s for the second part of their session.

To finish the morning, the players took part in a mini tournament of their own, which was enjoyed by everyone involved. The children showed great enthusiasm, worked hard for their teams and had lots of fun putting their footwork into game situations.

Overall, it was another brilliant Saturday for the Junior Tykes Foundation Academy.

From tournament success at Wombwell to new faces joining us at the Academy, there was plenty to celebrate. A huge well done to all our players, coaches and parents for making it another fantastic morning of grassroots football.

The hard work continues, the smiles keep coming, and the development is clear to see every week.

🔴 FOUNDATION ACADEMY FINISH THE SEASON IN STYLE!
What an incredible two days of football, fun, and celebrations for our FOUNDATION ACADEMY as we officially bring the 2025/26 season to a close!

From thrilling matches and cup finals to presentations, trophies, and unforgettable memories, it was the perfect way to end another fantastic year of development, teamwork, and enjoyment for all our young footballers.

🔴 U6s GRADUATION CUP DELIVERS ANOTHER THRILLING TOURNAMENT
The weekend kicked off with our annual UNDER 6s GRADUATION CUP, a special event that marks the end of our players' journey at U6 level before they graduate to Under 7s in September.

Six Academy teams took part in the tournament:
⚽ U6s RED
⚽ U6s BLACK
⚽ U6s GIRLS
⚽ U6s WHITE
⚽ U6s BLUE
⚽ U6s GREEN

Despite battling some challenging weather conditions, all six teams produced an outstanding morning of football, showcasing the progress they have made throughout the season.

🔴 U6s BLACK Crowned Champions!
The standout performers of the day were undoubtedly U6s BLACK, who put together a remarkable tournament display.

Not only did they win all five of their league matches, they achieved the impressive feat of doing so without conceding a single goal. Their dominance continued into the Champions Final, where they secured a fantastic 2-0 victory to seal the overall title and complete a perfect tournament.

A huge congratulations to our deserved champions!

🔴 Cup Success for U6s WHITE and U6s GIRLS
There was more silverware to celebrate as both U6s WHITE and U6s GIRLS claimed cup victories of their own.

The Girls provided one of the most dramatic moments of the morning, holding their nerve to win their final on penalties, sparking brilliant celebrations from players, coaches, and parents alike.

What a fantastic send-off for all of our graduating U6 players!

🔴 UNDER 5s SHINE ON SUNDAY
The football action continued on Sunday morning, with plenty more exciting games involving our youngest Academy members.

🔴 U5s YELLOW Welcome Wombwell
First up, our UNDER 5s YELLOW welcomed Wombwell U5s for what proved to be a memorable and entertaining game.

Thankfully, the weather was much kinder than the previous day, allowing both teams to enjoy a wonderful morning of football.

There were some excellent performances throughout the team, with special mentions going to GRAYSON C, LEWIS and JUDE, who all found themselves on the scoresheet for the FOUNDATION ACADEMY.

Well done to both teams for producing such a fantastic game played in the right spirit.

🔴 White Team Too Strong in Academy Clash
Sunday also saw our remaining two UNDER 5 teams go head-to-head in an exciting Academy fixture.

Although the RED team gave absolutely everything and never stopped battling, the WHITE team were able to use their additional matchday experience to good effect and proved too strong on the day.

A special mention goes to FINNLEY, who continued his incredible goalscoring form by finding the net time and time again. Having impressed in previous fixtures, he once again demonstrated a real eye for goal with another outstanding performance.

🔴 PRESENTATION DAY PROVIDES THE PERFECT CELEBRATION
After the morning football action, all Academy members made the short journey to South Hiendley for our annual 2026 PRESENTATION DAY.

This was our first experience of Jenny's Field and The Exodus Project, and what an amazing venue it turned out to be.

🔴 An Afternoon Packed with Fun
From the moment everyone arrived, there was plenty to keep our young footballers entertained.

The activities included:
🎈 A huge Bouncy Castle
🤸 Trampolines
🏃 An Obstacle Course
🚂 A fantastic Mini Railway
⚽ A large football pitch perfect for 60 mini footballers

For over an hour, the children enjoyed non-stop fun, laughter, and football with friends old and new.

🔴 Every Player Receives Their Trophy
Following all the outdoor activities, everyone gathered inside the hall for one of the most important moments of the day – the trophy presentation.

Every single Academy member received a trophy in recognition of their hard work, dedication, and progress throughout the season.

It was a particularly special moment for our UNDER 4s players, many of whom were experiencing their first-ever presentation event. Seeing the smiles on their faces as they collected their trophies made all the hard work worthwhile.

🔴 A Perfect End to a Fantastic Season
After plenty of photographs and celebrations, it was back outside for more football, more bouncing, and more fun.

While the children continued enjoying the activities, parents were able to relax with picnic blankets and enjoy the sunshine, creating the perfect atmosphere to round off a truly memorable weekend.

🔴 THANK YOU FOR AN AMAZING 2025/26 SEASON
As another season comes to an end, both myself and Chris would like to say a massive thank you to every player, parent, family member, volunteer, and supporter who has helped make the last 12 months so special.

The progress shown by every child throughout the season has been incredible to watch, and seeing their confidence, friendships, and love for football grow week after week is exactly what the FOUNDATION ACADEMY is all about.
