I wasn’t always this version of me.
I’ve fought battles with obesity.
The kind that isn’t just physical… but mental, emotional, all-consuming.
I’ve been the single mum… trying to hold everything together while raising a child with autism.
Exhausted. Overwhelmed. Running on empty most days.
I’ve been laughed at.
Talked about.
Called names I wouldn’t repeat.
And if I’m honest…
that doesn’t just belong in the past.
People still talk.
Still have opinions.
Still watch from the sidelines.
But here’s the difference now…
I don’t shrink for it anymore.
Because for a long time… I believed every word.
And it kept me small.
Until something in me decided it wasn’t staying there.
No big breakthrough moment.
No overnight transformation.
Just small decisions… over and over again.
Show up.
Try again.
Keep going.
That’s what led me here.
Becoming a personal trainer.
Building a business.
Creating a space for women who feel exactly how I once felt.
Not confident.
Not “ready.”
But wanting more.
And here’s the truth…
I’m not here because it was easy.
I’m here because I didn’t quit.
And I’m still here…
even while people talk.
So if you’re in that place right now,
feeling stuck, doubting yourself, wondering if you’re capable…
You are.
You just haven’t seen it yet.

“Some weeks you feel full of energy…
Other weeks you’re running on empty and just trying to get through the day.
This week has definitely been one of those for me.
But showing up at 60% still counts.
If you’re feeling the same, you’re not alone
Where are you at right now? 1–10 👇

You don’t get messages like this from “just a gym”…
After our social last night, my phone was full of messages like this… and honestly, this is why I do what I do.
20 women. Food, drinks, laughter… and not one conversation about calories, guilt, or “being good.”
“This is more than a strength group… it’s a family”
“Don’t underestimate the impact you have”
“Brilliant as always, what a group of women”
That means more to me than any transformation photo ever could.
Because yes, we lift weights.
Yes, we get stronger.
Yes, bodies change.
But what really happens here?
Women who felt like they didn’t fit in… find their people.
Women who nearly gave up on themselves… start backing themselves again.
Women who walked in nervous… now walk in like they belong.
This isn’t just a gym.
And it never was.
If you’ve been watching from the sidelines thinking
“I wish I had something like that…”
You do. You’ve just not walked through the door yet.

Creatine is something I’ve started educating our members about recently.
Not because it’s trendy.
Because the research around creatine monohydrate for strength, muscle and healthy ageing is very solid.
Especially for women in midlife who are strength training.
Like most things we talk about in the studio, there are no magic fixes.
But there are simple things that can support your body as hormones change.
Creatine is one of them.
So if you’ve heard it mentioned recently… now you know why.

Strength Training For Midlife Women

One in three women consider quitting their job during menopause.
Let that sink in.
Not because they’re incapable.
Not because they’ve lost ambition.
But because the brain fog, the anxiety, the overwhelm, the poor sleep, the self-doubt and the pressure to hold everything together becomes too much.
I won’t lie, there have been moments I’ve stood in my studio and thought,
“I can’t do this anymore.”
When the words don’t come out properly.
When I forget what I was saying mid sentence.
When my confidence disappears for no logical reason.
When the weight gain makes me feel like a fraud in an industry obsessed with aesthetics.
When the responsibility feels heavy and I question whether I’m cut out for it.
I’ve come close to packing it in more than once.
But here’s what I know.
It’s not that I’m incapable.
It’s not that I’m done.
It’s that midlife rewires you physically and mentally and nobody teaches you how to navigate it while running a business, leading women, and holding space for everyone else.
One in three women think about quitting.
What if instead of quitting, we built businesses, careers and lives that actually support women in midlife?
What if we stopped pretending we’re fine?
What if strength in this season looks different but it’s still strength?
If you’ve ever silently thought about walking away from everything because it all felt too much…
You’re not weak.
You’re navigating a hormonal transition while still showing up.
And that deserves respect.

“Taking back what menopause is trying to take away.”
One of my clients said this and I thought… there it is.
Because somewhere along the line women were told:
You’ll get weaker now.
You’ll slow down.
You’ll gain weight.
You’ll ache.
You’ll fade into the background.
And you should just accept it.
No.
We don’t accept unnecessary decline.
We don’t hand over our strength without a fight.
We don’t shrink ourselves to make midlife more comfortable for everyone else.
Yes, hormones change.
Yes, recovery matters.
Yes, things feel different.
But weaker?
Invisible?
Done?
Absolutely not.
In here we lift.
We build muscle.
We raise standards.
We take back ownership of bodies that have carried everyone else for decades.
Midlife isn’t a warning label.
It’s a line in the sand.
If you’re done being told what this stage of life is supposed to look like…
You already know where to find me.

She’s right. It’s never just about the workout.
It’s about having a place where midlife women feel understood.
Where you can train hard, laugh harder, and be around women who just get it.
This is what Transform Fitness is about.
Getting stronger in your body.
And feeling more like yourself again.
If you’ve been thinking about starting, we’re here waiting for you.

Transform Fitness Barnsley isn’t about shrinking, fixing, or chasing someone else’s version of healthy.
It’s for midlife women who are tired of being everything for everyone else.
Women who are done putting themselves last.
Women who want strength, confidence and freedom in their own bodies.
This is a space to train without judgement.
To wear what you want.
To move how you want.
And to finally choose yourself.
If that resonates, we’re exactly where you’re meant to be.
