Belfast Trojans The Official page for the six-time Shamrock Bowl Champions, the Belfast Trojans. The team train at Belfast Harlequins RFC and everybody is welcome.

The official page of the reigning, 5-time (2019, 2015,2014,2013 and 2012) AFI Shamrock Bowl Champions as well as 2015 IAFL2 & 2013 & 2015 Atlantic Cup Champions

We have a senior fully kitted team that compete in the American Football Ireland Premier Division, under NCAA rules. We also have two flag football teams (non-contact) that compete in the Flag Premier Division & Div 1. In 2021, we are launching our first ever Youth Team for athletes aged between 15 and 18 years old. No previous experience in playing American football is necessary. The team is made up of individuals from all communities in the province, and also consists of many from outside Northern Ireland. You will find players on our roster from as far away as France, Canada, USA and Lebanon. The Belfast Trojans prides itself on it’s multi-cultural complex. We also have several fully capped Irish internationals. Interested in Playing? We play full contact American Football, you do NOT need experience of playing the sport to come down, in fact most of our team started out by simply watching it on T.V. It’s a fun/tough game that provides a new experience for anyone wanting to take part…By the way, its not a soft game, try it if you think so! Coaching
The Trojans have an excellent set of coaches, with NFL experience, something that is rarely found at this level. Training
Training with the Trojans takes place at Belfast Harlequins RFC, Deramore Park, Belfast. Although the sport is full contact, no kit is necessary for your first visit. 🚨 Division 1 North WINNERS!

Today’s afternoon of flag seen the Trojan 2s pick up 2 more wins today against the Gators and Giants to end the season and head into playoffs UNDEFEATED with a 9-0-1 Record! 👏

Meanwhile in the Prem, the 1s ended the day 1-1 picking up a win over the Dragons following a loss to the Knights - all eyes to next week as the 1s aim to lockdown Playoffs!

This will be a fantastic evening celebrating two decades of Trojans football, countless shared memories both on and off the field, our Club successes, and most importantly, the people who have made the Club what it is today 💚

Thank you, Hass.

Trojan Nation, ahead of our AGM this past Sunday, Club President Hassan Jaafar informed the club that he would be stepping down from his role. Hassan who spent more than eight years on the board and the last two as President, gave endless hours off the field to see the club grow to where it is today. From meetings and interviews, to building partnerships, and playing a key role in our social media strategy, we cannot thank Hass enough for the time, drive and vision he has given to the club!

Speaking about Hassan, Trojans COO, Mark Davidson said, “Being President of a club is never just about holding a title. It’s about giving your time, your energy and, most importantly, your heart to something you believe in. And Hassan has done exactly that.

The legacy of a club isn’t just measured in trophies, wins or statistics. It is measured in the people who come through its doors, the friendships that are made, the young players who find a passion for the sport, and the sense of belonging that keeps people coming back. Hassan, you have played a huge part in building that.

Thank you for encapsulating what it means to be a Trojan and thank you for all the time, effort and sacrifices you made to get us where we are today.“

GAMEDAY! 💪

In the Prem, we take on the Knights (11.30am) and Mavericks (1pm) at Cherryville Playing Fields, Belfast!

Our Division 1 team are also in action today as they travel to Derry to face off against the Gators (11.30am)!

Due to a Mavericks forfeit the 2s move to 7-0 with our biggest test of the season so far against the Gators next up. We will also play the Knights in a friendly fixture at 10am!

..and that’s a wrap on our 2026 youth season. The Trojans fell short in the Semi-Final to the the eventual Setanta Bowl Winners, the Dublin Rebels, but as a group there is a lot to be proud of!
