Much needed reinforcements have arrived at Glen Road Heights. Multiple new signings and more on the way, a massive welcome to Michael McMullan, Riley Williams, Paddy Larkin, Karl McCleave, Tony Larkin, Ryan McAleenan, who all made their debuts on Saturday against title contenders New Buildings. The 0-3 defeat doesn't reflect the closeness of the match but a much improved performance and the the beginning of a new era! Watch this space for new signings! 🟢⚪

With the exception of the Irish League, local football has been side-lined, just like most things in life over the last year but before the season 20/21 season comes to an end there is the small matter of the Irish Cup to be decided. As participants, we have to undergo strict testing and training protocols with each training session and friendly match. Unfortunately fans are not permitted to either.
The bhoys have a month to get in to shape before taking on the Irish League outfit and former winners of the Cup, Carrick Rangers on the 27th April @ Taylors Avenue.
Any match against Premier opposition is tough and the Amber Army have the added advantage of having played near a full season compared to our bhoys being confined to quarters, but this is football and cup upsets are what makes a good cup competition!
Stephen McAlorum knows a thing or two about the magic of the cup and is confident that his bhoys will give it their all!

Belfast Atheltic 1-0 Belfast Celtic Swifts
The Division 3 champions kicked off the season last Saturday with a narrow defeat to a very strong Belfast Athletic. The Celts used the wings well early, Ciaran Smyth down the left and P***y Kelly on the right looks an exciting prospect this season. The Bhoys couldn’t take advantage of the early pressure and Athletic grew into the game, creating numerous chances but couldn’t find a way past the inspired Tony Mallon.
Approaching half time, Celtic where awarded a penalty, after Smyth was brought down. He dusted himself down only to be denied by McKillop from the spot.
Athletic started the better after the half and it was Mallon again who came to the Celts rescue racing out to clear the ball from the oncoming striker.
The Bhoys fought back and began to put pressure on the hosts backline but it was an Athletic counterattack that led to a soft penalty being awarded and this time there was nothing Mallon could do to prevent the goal.
Celtic threw the kitchen sink to get the equaliser but the Athletic defence could not be breached.
Mallon was excellent in nets but the M.o.T.M goes to Ciaran McKissock who never stopped running all day!
We wish Athletic all the best for the rest of the season and a speedy recovery to one of their players who got injured during the game
Onwards and upwards for the Celtic🍀
