Today is the 228th Anniversary of the Battle of Antrim when Belfast Presbyterian Merchant Henry Joy Mc Cracken led a failed assault of several thousand 'United Irishmen into Antrim Town'
Although initially having the upper hand the United Irishmen forces would later be defeated By Crown Forces and Loyalist defenders of the town.
Mc Cracken would be arrested days later and hanged for Treason at the Belfast Market House witnessed by his adoring sister Mary Ann Mc Cracken.
