The 2nd XV fixtures are here, and another exciting season awaits!

The campaign gets underway at Upper Park with back-to-back home fixtures against Anselmians and Blackburn before the first away trip of the season to Ellesmere Port.

There are plenty of exciting contests to look forward to, including home clashes with Kendal, Manchester, Rochdale, and local rivals Widnes. Tough away trips to Fylde, West Park, Kirkby Lonsdale, and Vale of Lune will also provide a real test as the squad looks to build on last season.

With nine home fixtures and nine away fixtures, the 2nd XV will be looking to make Upper Park a fortress and put together another strong campaign.

Introducing our 2026/27 Coaching Team

We’re delighted to unveil the coaching team leading BPFC into the new season.

Martin O’Keefe continues as Head Coach after stepping in midway through last season to steady the ship. As our Club Chairman, Martin’s leadership, commitment, and passion for BPFC have been instrumental both on and off the field.

Joining him in a formal coaching role is Dave Hall. A true BPFC great, Dave made over 400 First XV appearances and scored more than 3,000 points for the club. His rugby knowledge and experience will be invaluable to the squad.

Completing the coaching team are Matt and Dave Ibbotson, who have answered the call to help drive the club forward. Bringing a wealth of playing experience, a strong understanding of the game, and an unwavering commitment to BPFC, they will play a key role in developing the squad throughout the season.

Between the four coaches, they have accumulated over 1,000 First XV appearances for Birkenhead Park, bringing an incredible level of experience, leadership, and club knowledge to the coaching setup.

We’re excited to see what this team can achieve as we build towards the new season.

Birkenhead Park RFC are delighted to announce that Jack Ashcroft will captain the 1st XV for the 2026/27 season.

Jack returns to the role having previously led the club between 2016 and 2019. His leadership, experience, and commitment to BPFC make him the ideal person to lead the squad into the new campaign.

A respected figure both on and off the pitch, Jack knows what it means to wear the BPFC shirt and will be looking to inspire the squad as we build towards another exciting season.

Congratulations, Jack, and best of luck for the season ahead.
