Champs Head 2026 🔥
Last weekend, 5 EBC crews took on this 1.7k race, with great experience earned and a great set of results!
W1 rowed their first race of the term here, putting in a very strong performance to place 5th and very much in amongst the bumps competition in the W1 division!
M1 also put in a strong row to come home 6th in the M1 category.
M2 produced the stand-out row of the day, winning the M2 category by over 10 seconds to the next-fastest crew!
W3 and W4 also came home with great rows, placing 5th and 4th in their categories respectively, earning crucial experience for bumps.
A great day of racing. We’ll be back with more racing action soon in the build up to bumps! FVV

Spring Head to Head 2026 🚣
After a successful camp, 4 freshly selected EBC crews took to the river this morning for the first race of the term, a 2x2k that provides a great chance to practise the bumps course.
All crews raced in great conditions in the first division of the day. M1 were the fourth crew to set off, and produced a solid row to come home 3rd out of 10 M1 crews.
M2 also put in a good performance to finish 6th in Band 2. M3 (setting off behind M2 and pursuing them all the way) had a great row and placed 2nd in Band 3.
W2 also competed in their first race of the term, also putting in a strong performance to finish 2nd in Band 3.
All crews will look to carry this momentum forward into the next weeks of training. FVV

We are delighted to share that an impressive five EBC athletes (very close to last year’s record of six) will be racing down the Championship Course against Oxford in a week and a half! It is thanks to impressive commitment and determination that they have achieved this feat.
Matt Moran (Masters in Finance) makes his Boat Race debut coxing the women’s Blue Boat, looking to help continue Cambridge’s winning streak to nine years in a row.
Luke Beever (Undergraduate Engineering) returns for a fourth year following three consecutive wins (Goldie ‘23, ‘24 and Blue Boat ‘25) in the 7 seat of Goldie, sat in front of Simon Nunayon (PhD in Clinical Neurosciences) who returns after winning for Goldie last year.
Ellie Sillar (Undergraduate Natural Sciences) returns to Blondie, this time in the four seat, after victory in gold last year.
Olivia Wright (Undergraduate Natural Sciences), who learnt to row at EBC, makes her Boat Race debut racing in the 3 seat of the lightweight women’s Blue Boat.
We wish our team the absolute best and can’t wait to see the show they put on! Lightweights race 3rd April, Openweights 4th April.

Newnham Head 2026!!!
This weekend saw a number of EBC boats take to the river for Newnham Head, a ~2,000m course, providing key racing experience for our rowers and coxes ahead of next month’s Lent Bumps.
M1 took to the course in Division 1, putting down a strong row to come home 6th out of 12 in their category. Likewise, W1 also put in a very committed performance and matched M1 by placing 6th out of 12 in their category!
W2 raced very strongly to a solid 9th place finish in their category. M2 also rowed very well, placing 6th out of 15 in their category and beating a handful of M1 crews.
W3 and W4 also raced, in what was the first senior race for EBC for many of them, with W3 taking a fantastic 2nd place out of 32 in their category! M3 followed up on their great win last week at Head2Head with a strong 7th/27 in their category.
Crews will be back in action with side-by-side racing soon at Pembroke Regatta! FVV 💗💙

EMMA SPRINTS!!
Last weekend saw a fantastic day of racing, our first regatta not disrupted by weather in three years! Thank you to all who took part for racing, dressing up fantastically and helping to make the day a success even during the very rainy morning!
EBC entered 4 novice crews into Sprints this year, and came away with some great results, including a division win! Massive thanks to for masterminding this success and for writing this report:
NW2- Displayed some impressive rowing and won their mixed division. Won firstly against Newnham NW2, (despite a blade popping out of a gate). They then beat Caius NW2, and secured victory against Hughes Hall NW2 in the semi final. Having won against the women’s boats, they faced Caius NM2 in the final, where they secured the division title!
NM2 - Flew off the start, but a couple of unlucky crabs kept them from the later rounds. Some excellent coxing judgement meant they still finished the course strong and gained valuable experience ahead of Fairbairns.
NW1- The boat faced some tough competition against Wolfson NW1, who went on to win the div. But they rowed well together and their heads in to finish side-by-side when they started down, showing great resilience. On the row home, they raced Queens’ NW1. Even with a few crabs, sharp calls from the cox kept them pushing hard for a competitive race.
NM1- Found a solid, chunky rhythm against Jesus NM1 but were unfortunately knocked out. On the row back, they delivered a confident win over Darwin by a full length and are raring to go for Fairbairns!
A huge thank you to VC Norah for organising the event, the marshals for keeping the racing going, and to Sara and Noe for another amazing sprinks!

Qergs 2025! 🤩
To mark the beginning of their competitive EBC careers, our novices raced at Qergs 2025!
The Women’s First Novice Boat delivered a committed performance, finishing 4th in their heat, and missing out on a ticket to the final only by a few seconds
The Men’s First Novice Boat raced superbly to finish 2nd in their heat, earning a place in the final where they came 7th overall after a determined, cohesive effort
Shout out as always to our amazing for LBCs for all they do for our novices 💗💙 and thank you to for another great event!
