Great result for Selim Ozkurtulus in the championship in South Africa. 1st in individual kumite, 3rd in individual kata, 3rd individual jiyu ippon kumite and 3rd in team kata. Certainly worth the journey! We are very proud of him representing the club and England team.

Young Mr Twomey was awarded the student of the month for the Green belts (6th kyu) and above class. He found out by taking a risk pays dividends and of course builds confidence. Well done! 👏

2024 was another a great year for our Cambridge club, finishing with another successful grading for many in December (I have attached a few pictures below). We had two competitions in the association during the year at which Cambridge performed well. For me it was topped by retuning to teach at the club I first opened in 1989.

Looking forward to 2025 we have a lot coming up. Aside of the gradings, we have an International Black Belt competition in May and the Kyu grade competition later in the year. For the black belt intermediates and above we have a masterclass with Shihan Sahota in Alicante in early July for those that want to attend.

As we see many students progress through their grades, a thought for you. To pass each grade you are not only expected to learn more techniques, but you are expected to be far more efficient with the techniques and katas you already know. Learning karate is an exponential journey where you learn more and more and have to constantly practice, not only in the classes but at home. If you don't keep on practicing it, all only the new content is there, yet the foundations are left to weaken bringing down the standard. For senior students you need to explore more and look for the real meaning of 'the way'.

With the summer holidays approaching, I wanted to provide you with the schedule for our karate classes during this period. Please take note of the following important dates and adjustments.

During the summer holidays, I have arranged several Zoom sessions to ensure you can continue training even if you are away. These Zoom classes are designed to accommodate limited space.
