☀️🏴 It was a beautiful day at the Welsh Nationals. A massive thank you to everyone who came along and made it so special.
A shoutout to the lovely group from , who travelled four hours each way by train to support Sensei Ed from .
Sensei Eric led a fantastic session alongside Sensei Paul, and it was brilliant to see Sensei Sam and Sensei Ed achieve their Senior Primary badges from their teaching slots. A huge congratulations to both for their hard work, it was well earned.
The day followed with fun, food, and drinks by an outdoor firepit, a perfect way to finish the evening.
Cardiff and Wales will be here to welcome you all back any time.
Also, do you think the Senior Primary badge is the coolest one?

🏴 Wales Sensei Spotlight
Sensei Sam Thomas
“I started Jiu Jitsu in 2015, I was thirteen, adorable, and pretty chubby. I trained for a few years with Dave Walker’s junior sessions before joining the seniors in Swansea, fell in love with throwing, and being thrown. I love the adrenaline, athleticism, and technicality of Jiu Jitsu and grappling. Achieved my Shodan (black belt) alongside my dad, who introduced me to Jiu Jitsu, in 2023 the day before I turned 21. That was an insane day!
I love coaching just as much as I love training, and I’m very excited to have a teaching slot on the 28th, really hope I don’t suck 👍
List of important information:
Favourite throw - Make Komi
Current injuries - broken eye and heart
Atemis or Randoris - Randoris 🔥
Favourite midnight snack - 14oz Ribeye steak
Throw I’m worst at - Make Komi
Excitement levels - 1billion/10”

🏴Wales Sensei Showcase
Sensei David Walker, 8th Dan Vale Jiu Jitsu Club
“Been doing Jiu Jitsu since 1979 and judo and karate before then. I taught Sensei Eric’s first teacher. I’ll be there for the regional but won’t be on the mat as it’s Sensei Eric’s show.”
This March, Sensei David is aiming to walk 155km to stand with women and girls globally who are held back by having to walk 5km or more for water every day. WaterAid works towards providing clean water to these communities. He is already over halfway through his Walk for Water challenge, having completed 79km of his goal. If you’d like to sponsor Sensei David please visit his fundraising page, where you can also track his progress.
