Thrilled and incredibly proud to have been selected to represent Wales Over 40s in the upcoming Over-40s Cricket World Cup in Guyana!🏏🌴.
has put in some serious work during her off-season, and the results are nothing short of impressive! Through focused alignment training, we’ve helped her keep her upper body upright during ball release, allowing her to harness more energy in her action.
By implementing a few constraints, her body has adapted to this new technique, making it feel automatic! The improvement is clear: she’s now generating more spin on the ball with consistent line and length. 🎾✨
It’s all thanks to Cary’s incredible work ethic and determination. The future is bright for this rising star 💪.
Competition is the best place to shine.
It makes us try harder, improve our skills and play much better than we thought we could.
In real matches, when the pressure is on, we find out what we’re really made of.
Some players love it and play their very best, while others get nervous and fall apart.
That’s why competition is great – it shows not just how good you are, but how strong you are inside.
Our recent half term course was a great success 🎉.
We took skills from the nets straight to real match scenarios, giving everyone a taste of the thrilling pressure of the game! 🏏✨ Not only did we refine techniques, but we also made unforgettable memories along the way.

In our last session, we focused on playing the ball with positive intent, emphasizing the importance of moving our head towards the line of the ball. To help with this, we used plastic wickets as constraints, guiding players to ensure their body weight followed their head movement.
We then transitioned to the nets, where players applied that same positive mindset by aiming for specific targets. This approach not only enhances skill but allows our bodies to find balance naturally!

Long international careers in cricket demand significant mental strength, given the constant pressure athletes face—whether competing individually or as part of a team. This relentless challenge can sometimes lead to burnout, a psychological state characterized by exhaustion and a diminished ability to cope with stressors. When burnout occurs, players may struggle with negative thought patterns borne out of the intense pressure to perform, which can erode their passion for the game and shift their motivation toward external rewards.
To reignite the love for cricket and overcome burnout, several effective strategies can be employed. Taking a break from the game can provide the necessary mental respite, allowing players to recharge and reconnect with their passion. Alternatively, engaging in mental skills training can equip cricketers with tools to manage stress, enhance focus, and cultivate resilience.
It’s crucial to work alongside professionals who understand the unique challenges of consistent performance in cricket. These experts can guide players through tailored strategies that not only address immediate concerns but also foster long-term mental well-being, helping them navigate the ups and downs of their careers while maintaining their love for the game.
