🔧🚲 WORKSHOP WISDOM: Is your bike trying to tell you something?

A squeaky brake. Clicking gears. A chain that sounds like it's had a hard week. 👀

Your bike can give you plenty of warning signs when something isn't quite right - but it's easy to ignore them and hope they'll go away!

Here's what to look out for:

🔊 Strange noises? Clicking, grinding or persistent squeaking could mean something needs attention.

🛑 Brakes not feeling right? If they're rubbing, squealing excessively or taking longer to stop, get them checked.

⚙️ Gears skipping? Difficulty changing gear can be a sign that your drivetrain needs adjustment or maintenance.

⛓️ A dry or dirty chain? Regular cleaning and lubrication help keep things running smoothly and reduce unnecessary wear.

A little maintenance now can help prevent bigger problems later - and keep you enjoying the ride.

We’ve been pedalling I Cycle since 2009....and in that time we’ve done a lot more than sell bikes. 🚲❤️

We’ve delivered fully funded bike maintenance courses to Scout groups, Cubs, Brownies and youth clubs right across Lancashire. We’ve sponsored local events, and we’ve supported the Ribble Valley Ride and its fundraising for Rosemere Cancer Foundation. We showed up on a soggy Thursday morning to cheer on the Lloyds Tour of Britain Women as it rolled out of our brilliant town too!!

We lease bikes to local children so families don’t have to choose between quality and affordability. We hire bikes to visitors so they can discover this valley the way it deserves to be discovered: from the saddle!

None of that happens without the people of Clitheroe and the Ribble Valley choosing to support a local business over clicking buy online.

So genuinely thank you. It means everything. ❤️

Is there a bike in your garage that hasn’t moved since spring? 🚲

No judgement. It happens to the best of us.

But here’s the thing, it’s not too late to get back out there. October in the Ribble Valley is genuinely stunning. The leaves, the light, the quiet lanes. And a bike ride, even a short one, does something for your head that very little else can match.

If the bike needs a bit of attention before you head out, bring it in to our workshop. We’ll give it a proper once-over and get it road-ready: brakes, gears, tyres, the lot.
