Tournament - Middleton Rangers u9 Rockets

Today saw the Rockets play a tough Tournament at Middlesbrough.

Throughout the games the girls showed determination and strength. Each player gave it their all during a hot and humid morning.

The rockets got through to the silver cup knockout stages and they smashed their way through to the final.

The final game saw the girls produce some excellent team work and five superb goals to crown them silver cup CHAMPIONS!!!!

We are all really proud of the girls and they deserved the win today.

The club are delighted to officially announce that we have secured a 5 year lease on the airport pitches 🙌 ⚽️ 🧡🖤

A gruelling but enjoyable weekend for the players and parents of the u14 girls. A late entry to a Friday night tournament was followed by the presentation day on Saturday.

TOURNAMENT FRIDAY

SPOILER "Won two lost one. Lost the final"

A muggy Friday saw some old friends reunited in orange as Darcey rejoined the team alongside some younger middleton players who stepped up a year group. As soon as the teams were announced the eventaul winners were clear to all, so it was a battle for second place.

The first two games were a win and a loss which left it to the last group game to decide whether it would be progression to the cup or plate final. Our opponents, Boro Rangers, have traditionally posed a stern test for us leaving us on the wrong side of results. On this occasion Middleton were on top form creating multiple chances... but the winning goals were moments of genius. First was long range brilliance from Mega who spotted the keeper off her line... this was followed up by Poppy who, whilst the crowd were shout pass, shielded the ball expertly before dinking a fantastic clip into the far corner.

In classic Middleton we were kept us on the edge of our seats as the girls conceded late in the game from a rare Boro Rangers attack. Thankfully, the girls held out for the win.

The final was one where the girls played with smiles on their faces knowing a second place finish was more than enough to secure a maccy d's meal deal from the Manager.

A special mention needs to be made for the Nunthorpe manager who was a class act on the sideline; constantly providing encouragement and calm advice to his team in every game.

PRESENTATION SATURDAY

A sweltering day at the airport pitches where awards were won, drinks were drank and fun was had.
If the heat wasn't enough we packed ourselves into the sauna of a marqee for Tony to lavish praise on the growth of the team to the baying crowd of players, family, random man and Grandma Rita.

We said goodbye to some dear friends and parents as Lilly, Maya and Roukaia step away from the game... but we wish them well and always leave the door wide open should they wish to return to football.

A special thanks to Beth, Charlotte, Jemima, Tony, Mark, Sri and Ginnie (the cog) who assisted the smooth running of the booze and refreshment sales.

THE SEASON AHEAD

It wouldn't be a full review without some sort of corny quote from Tony... so to the girls...

Our Earharts would like to say a huge thank you to MFC Foundation for a fabulous FREE tournament tonight!

They played their socks off winning the semi final on penalties, and just loosing out on the final in dreaded penalties again! We couldn’t be prouder of the way they played tonight!

Today 2 of our girls teams went to Redcar for a tournament - the U14s and the U10 Earharts.

Both teams battled well in closely contested matches and gave it their all. They played, they laughed, shared snacks and danced (for the most part off the pitch!) and enjoyed some time with their friends. Well done girls!

The girls were fantastic all day, finishing joint second in the group stages and making it to the semi finals.

The semi-final was a tough game and, despite a brave performance and giving absolutely everything, it wasn't quite enough to get through to the final. Every single one of the girls should be incredibly proud of themselves - they were great!

There was some brilliant football on show throughout the day, but what stood out most was the way the girls supported each other, worked hard and enjoyed being together. The friendships and team spirit in this group are something special.

All of the parents are really proud of every one of the girls today. Plenty of smiles, plenty of effort and plenty of memories made.

This weekend our u12s headed to Filey (Bridlington) for a weekend of tournament football ⚽️

The weather was perfect for a weekend by the sea, although maybe even a little too hot for the players.

With a wide selection of teams from across the North East, Yorkshire and even a Notts County Women’s team, the girls relished the chance to play new teams.

Saturday saw us only concede 1 goal and try a new attacking formation, which the girls adapted to excellently after a super quick ‘water bottle’ formation briefing!!

Sunday was an earlier start and the girls took a couple of games to get back into the swing. But again played some lovely football and championed each other throughout, ending both days with smiles on their faces

The best bit - watching them all enjoy time together away from the pitch; friendships grow, bonds form and memories made 🧡🖤

Well done girls the coaches and your parents are super proud of you all 👏🏻
