Week 5 of coaching the ladies section at Derby Hockey Club and I’m really enjoying it. Not because it’s all smooth sailing, but because it’s pushing me in ways I didn’t see coming. The ladies have been open, receptive and up for giving things a go even when it gets tough. The challenges have been real, but the growth, theirs and mine, feels even more real.

Two pictures from the weekend. A half time chat with the 2s during their win on Saturday, and the Over 35s during their cup victory today. Different teams, different moments, but the same honesty, graft and willingness to grow together.

Closing out a special summer of coaching

The seventeenth of September brought the curtain down on one of the most rewarding summers of my coaching life. It all began back in April with the England Mixed Disability squad at Desert Springs for a training weekend. From there we moved into an international series win against India and then another DPL final. After last year’s bowl off heartbreak, lifting the trophy with the Pirates meant a lot. I have been with the Pirates for five years now and this group continues to push me, challenge me and bring out the best in me. During this time I have been fortunate enough to grow and shape my coaching style in ways I never expected.

This year has changed me. I have finally understood the value I bring to a player and to a wider environment. For the first time I have stopped comparing myself to others and instead looked at my strengths and accepted that I deserve to be part of the England setup because of my skill set. I am incredibly proud to have spent twenty four years in international disability cricket as a player, captain and now a coach. Even after seven or eight years of coaching, it feels like my journey is only just beginning.

I am grateful for everyone who has supported me, mentored me and believed in my ethos. My philosophy has evolved over the years but my relationships have stayed at the centre of everything. They are the foundation of any environment worth building.

All of this has happened while working full time in an SEN setting and supporting the clubs that trust me and Eleven Cricket Coaching to deliver their programmes. I am thankful for every opportunity and excited for whatever comes next.

A huge thank you to our partner clubs this summer

As we wrap up the senior training programmes for 2026, I want to say a genuine thank you to Riddings Cricket Club, Marehay Cricket Club, Darley Abbey Cricket Club and Spondon Cricket Club for choosing and trusting Eleven Cricket Coaching to support your players this season. We love working with committed players and supportive club committees. The effort that goes in behind the scenes every single week is what keeps teams training, playing and progressing, and we are grateful for everything you do.

We are taking a short break now before heading straight into the winter programme with one to ones and club sessions.

I want to personally thank our coaches Rob and Isaac for their hard work this summer. They have both been outstanding and we wish Rob all the best as he heads over to Oz for another winter of cricket. Thank you to Ben and Archie for stepping in and supporting whenever we needed it. Another thank you to Max and Charlie who were fantastic during the Belper Youth Sport Festivals at Belper CC.

We are proud of the environments we have helped build and even prouder of the people who make them special.

We have one to ones available on an ad hoc basis, so feel free to get in touch if you would like to book in.

Seeking a Cricket Brand Partnership to Support the Growth of Eleven Cricket Coaching

We are looking to connect with a cricket manufacturer who believes in supporting real community growth. Eleven Cricket Coaching is expanding across Derbyshire and within the ECB disability game, and we want to build a partnership that genuinely benefits everyone involved. This is about more than equipment. It is about joining us on a journey that reaches players, families and clubs who care deeply about the sport.

Our coaching team includes one Level 3 and Level 2 coaches and a group of Level 1 coaches (who support our junior camps and the Belper Sport Festivals). As our programmes continue to grow, the visibility for any supporting brand grows with it.

Our Club Network and Reach

We work closely with four strong Derbyshire clubs, each with a busy and committed cricket community.

• : A Premier Division club with four senior teams, two women teams, a softball programme and a thriving junior section.
• Marehay Cricket Club : A strong senior section, a growing ladies programme and a large junior pathway.
• Riddings Cricket Club : A thriving senior section, expanding women cricket and a developing junior section.
• : A well established senior section and a large, active junior programme.

Alongside this, I work within the ECB disability game, where visibility and impact are increasing every season. This creates a genuine opportunity for a brand to be seen, trusted and chosen by players and families across multiple environments.

Why Partner With Us?

A partnership with Eleven Cricket Coaching offers:

• Consistent brand visibility across clubs, festivals, camps and disability cricket settings.
• Direct access to players, parents, coaches and club committees.
• Authentic promotion from coaches who value quality equipment and use it every day.
• A relationship built on shared growth, not just sponsorship.

We want to work with a brand that sees the value in long term development and community impact. If you are looking for a partnership that feels real and delivers genuine reach, we would love to talk.

Twenty days, seven matches, and a lifetime of experiences packed into one tour.

It is always an honour to be part of any ECB setup, but being involved in a winning four to three series against India MD was something genuinely special. The curtailed final game was not the ending anyone wanted, yet the players on and off the field were outstanding throughout. To support them, guide them, and share those moments with them was a privilege.

Show stopper at Lords: Standing there, watching our players take the field on one of the most iconic stages in world cricket, felt like a moment that will stay with me forever. It was more than a fixture. It was a statement about how far the game has come and how far it can still go.

The brilliant grounds at Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Sussex and Arundel were just as powerful in their own way. Each one welcomed disability cricket with warmth, respect and genuine belief. Each one showed the players that they belong on the very best stages. And each one reminded me how much work, passion and perseverance has gone into building this pathway over the years.

The experience reinforced so many of my own beliefs about what good environments look like, while also giving me countless opportunities to learn, reflect and grow. Watching players embrace challenges, push themselves, and trust the people around them reminded me exactly why this programme matters and why I love being part of it.

Grateful, proud, and excited for what comes next.
