Yesterday marked a special moment. Over the past two seasons I’ve played separate games with both of the Green brothers for Spondon CC 1st XI, but yesterday we took to the field together for the first time — and it was a real privilege to be part of.

Having coached them for the past seven or eight years, seeing them open the bowling, impact the game, and even combine for a “Bowled Green, caught Green” was one of those reminders of why this coaching journey matters so much.

We didn’t get the result we wanted, but both lads showed how far they’ve come — not just in skill, but in maturity, confidence, and presence. Watching players you’ve supported for years step up at this level is exactly what makes the long hours, the planning, and the commitment worthwhile.

Moments like these are the heartbeat of the coaching journey. Development, growth, and seeing good people thrive.

A really meaningful few days with the ECB Mixed‑Disability (MD) squad. I’m genuinely grateful for the chance to work with players I haven’t coached before, while also continuing the journey with players I’ve worked with regularly. Seeing them thrive in an environment that some of them have never experienced before was a real highlight — that’s what makes this programme so special.

I also had the privilege of learning alongside three brilliant coaches. So many shared ideas, honest conversations, and moments where you could see both players and staff pushing each other in the right direction. Exactly the kind of environment where development actually happens.

Desert Springs was the perfect setting for it all. First‑class wickets, great practice facilities, and a space where everyone could switch on, connect, and grow.

For me, this trip reinforced something that sits at the centre of my coaching and teaching: relationships matter. The trust, the small wins, the shared standards — that’s where real progress comes from. I’m grateful for every opportunity to strengthen those connections.

And in the middle of all that, I even managed to sneak in a few holes of golf during a rare bit of downtime… not a bad way to reset and reflect.

Feeling thankful, energised, and excited for what comes next.

Eleven Cricket Coaching is back at Darley Abbey CC — five seasons on.

After half a decade away, we’re proud to return and support senior training once again. Darley Abbey played a huge part in the early days of Eleven Cricket Coaching; they were the first senior side I ever coached, and they gave me the space to learn, grow, and shape the coach I’ve become today. I’ve always been grateful for that.

This return also marks a brilliant milestone for Isaac Harrison, who steps in as Head Coach for the first time. Since completing his Level 2, Isaac has worked incredibly hard and grown year after year — supporting head coaches at both Belper Meadows and Riddings, and building the experience, confidence, and leadership needed for this next step. We’re delighted to support him at this stage of his coaching journey, and there’s no better place for that progression than Darley Abbey.

Looking forward to a fantastic season ahead and to being part of the club once again.

We’re delighted to share that Eleven Cricket Coaching will once again be sponsoring Spondon CC’s top‑order batter Ali Dixon for the 2026 season.

After another strong year in 2025, scoring over 500 runs and continuing to be a key figure at the top of the order, Ali goes into the new season with real momentum. We’re proud to support him again as he looks to push on even further this year.

Wishing Ali all the very best for the season ahead — we’ll be right behind him throughout.

Reflecting on Sporting Environments for Young People with SEN & SEMH

I’ve been doing something a bit different lately. I’ve started looking closely at how negative sporting environments affect young people with SEN and SEMH — not just in school, but in their confidence, their relationships, and the way they see themselves.

It wasn’t meant to be a big project. It began as me simply reflecting on my own practice — as a coach in disability cricket, mainstream cricket, and as an educator working in SEN and SEMH settings. But the more I dug into it, the more I realised how much the environment around a young person shapes their experience of sport and learning.

I’ve seen first-hand how the right environment can help a young athlete feel safe, valued, and capable. I’ve also seen how the wrong one can shut them down completely.

This review is helping me challenge myself, question old habits, and think more deeply about the spaces we create — on the pitch, in the classroom, and everywhere in between.

I’ll share more as I go, but for now I just wanted to acknowledge the importance of this work and connect with others who care about building environments where every young person has a genuine chance to thrive.

Who are SPNSR — and why should clubs care?

At Eleven Cricket, our USP is simple: helping clubs develop in as many areas as possible, with one clear mantra — leave every club in a better place than when we found it.

That means supporting what happens on the field, while also making sure the off-field side is running just as effectively.

Give the video a watch 🎥 and get in touch to find out how Eleven Cricket can support your club on the field, and how SPNSR can help take care of those important off-field tasks too.
