White Roses Charity Rugby Team

After careful consideration and consultation with clubs across England, the RFU has decided to delay the start of the competitive community game season until the week commencing Monday 21 September.

The RFU recognises this will be disappointing for clubs, players and volunteers who have been preparing for the new season, but the decision follows consideration of a range of factors. For full details please follow this link.

Everyone at White Roses Charity Rugby is heartbroken to hear of the passing of one of our rugby brothers Ant “butch” Butcher.

Most of us have played alongside him as a teammate or opposition at some point. A great ambassador to the game and great character who will be very sadly missed.

We send our deepest condolences to his family, friends and teammates. RIP Butch 💔🏉

MATCH ROUND-UP — THORNENSIANS RUFC v WHITE ROSES

What a day. What a game. What a result for charity. 💙🤍

Over 50 players pulled on a shirt and took to the field as White Roses Charity Rugby Team went head-to-head with Thornensians RUFC in a hard-fought and hugely entertaining charity game.

There were some massive hits, great tackles, fantastic speed and some brilliant rugby skills on display throughout. But, as always with White Roses, the score was never the most important thing.

The real winners on the day were Cancer Research UK, with the event raising an incredible £1,034+ for the charity. ❤️

And what made the day even more special was seeing some of the younger Colts players stepping up and taking to the field for their first taste of senior rugby. What an experience for them — and hopefully the first of many appearances in a White Roses shirt! 🏉👏

Away from the rugby, there was something for everyone. The kids enjoyed the bouncy castles, spectators enjoyed the food and cold beers in the glorious sunshine, and after the final whistle the beers continued while everyone enjoyed the raffle and charity auction — all helping to push that fundraising total even higher.

White Roses Charity Rugby Team are 1 year old today!!

We are so lucky to have over 100 players who pull on the White Roses shirt, who represent 16 different rugby clubs and who form part of our great rugby family. Together we have raised almost £20,000 through our matches, sponsors, raffles, rugby cards and donations, all for amazing causes.

These include; Weston Park Cancer Charity, Cancer Research, Yorkshire Air Ambulance, Wheelchairs for Fiji, St Luke’s Hospice, The Anthony Nolan Foundation, Wheatley Hills Colts Big Tour 2027.

With our friends at Wheatley Hills RUFC, Combined Services, Thornesians RUFC, Sheffield Tigers RUFC, Sheffield Abbeydale RUFC, Pontefract RUFC, Stafford RUFC, Yorkshire Ambulance Service RFU, and great regular South Yorkshire referees Nell Colclough and Ian Kettleborough we have had a great first year and would like to say a HUGE thankyou to you all for your Sponsorships, playing efforts, donations, participation, hospitality and support.
