✨ East Emerging Schools ✨

On Wednesday, our U13 and U14 boys, and U14 Girls travelled to Meggetland to compete in the first East Emerging Schools festival of the season.

We had 11 players playing rugby for the first time which was incredible 👏👏

These events are a fantastic opportunity for our new players to get positive game time in an environment designed to support their development - and to get them ready to take the step up to club rugby!

A massive well done to all our players who represented both the club and school so well 💙

Youth Coaching Developments!

As part of our Summer Community Hub programme, we ran a youth coaching course for our high-school players. We ran an indoor presentation with some group work, before the players took out to the field to design and deliver a 10 minute session to their peers based on different scenarios. After we enjoyed some lovely lunch!

Since then, many of our players have been down helping to coach on Sunday mornings with our minis section - with many of them even taking the trips to away days to help coach their teams! This is absolutely amazing and we can’t wait to see how this develops further.

This has been made possible by The City of Edinburgh Council sportscotland Summer of Sport 26’ Funding. We are very thankful to both for their contribution to our programme and are pleased to see their funding having such fantastic impacts on our young people 💙

📸 U14 Girls The Boroughmuir Banshees Evolution Festival

Some cracking photos from Sunday as our U14 Girls played their first Evolution festival of the season.

It was brilliant to see a mixture of experience, and those pulling on the Leith shirt for the first time, come together to play some great rugby. These weekly events are fantastic to build our Girls experience whilst remaining competitive and exciting!

Thanks to Boroughmuir for hosting and to Rachael Rowley for the photos 💙

Boys Fixture Round-Up 💙

Today our U14 and U15 boys were split venues with the 14s at home taking on Penicuik Rugby Football Club and the 15s were out at Haddington RFC.

Our U14s put in an enormous performance - earning us our first win of the season with a 50 point plus win! A great reward for the team after some tough fixtures in the league. Credit to the boys for how they played and supported each other. 18 boys in the Leith shirt with a further 2 boys making their Leith debut 👏 We also had numerous lads scoring their first ever try’s to make it a very proud performance.

Our U15 boys started their game behind - going 49-7 behind at the end of the first half. They didn’t let their attitude or heads drop however as they put in an almighty effort in the second half to make a comeback to finish the game 56-47 - losing by just 9 points. POTM goes to Dylan for an incredible game and Finn for his unbelievable efforts in defence and getting himself over the line for a try.

A couple weeks off now for the boys - but what a day of rugby 🏉 Two very proud coaches indeed 💙

Leith Academy U16s vs

A fantastic evening on Wednesday as we hosted Beeslack High School for an U16 boys game.

The boys played incredibly well to stick in against a great team - and after a comeback in the second half - they only lost by 5 points.

It was one of the best performances we have seen from our 16s so far with so many boys stepping up to play some excellent rugby.

Final Score:
Leith Academy 36 : 41 Beeslack

A massive thanks to Beeslack for coming down for the game and we hope we can organise a reverse fixture at some point soon 💙

U16 Girls Edinburgh Representation 🙌

An enormous well done to our 4 leith girls who played for Edinburgh U16 today at Merchiston.

A very proud moment for us as coaches with all 4 girls playing some great rugby - making some enormous and important tackles.

Not an easy thing playing regional rugby, but the girls got right stuck in and did not look out of place in the slightest 🙌💙

REGIONAL SELECTION 💪

We are delighted to announce that Darcy, Angel, Maka, and Polly have been selected to play for the Edinburgh U16 team as part of the inter-district festival being held at Merchiston tomorrow.

We have had an enormous Leith representation in the training programme and are so proud of all our girls who have taken part in the past few weeks, and will continue to take part in the coming months. Being selected for the team, with the number of talented individuals in the training squad, is an incredible achievement - so join us in wishing our girls the best of lock for tomorrow 💙

Representing Leith at regional level is outstanding 🙌💙
