I’m not going to beat around the bush…this last year has been tough AF 🫠

…mainly because of what’s happened in life OUTSIDE the business than in it

But this week, one of our clients Thomas O’Cleary | Online Run | Performance Coach got the keys to his first home

And it made me stop and reflect…

Tom & I have been working together for almost 4 years

When we met he was 21, working on the gym floor earning min wage, looking for direction

He had the drive & the desire to grow. But he was missing a direction, systems and above all else, PERMISSION to go after dreams so big, the people around him thought he mad mad 🤣

He sent me this message on friday after getting the keys last week

And it hit me like a tonne of bricks. Watching him grow has been one of the most fulfilling things I’ve ever experienced in my work.

In the past 4 years I’ve watched him build a six-figure coaching business before 25 🤯

But more importantly, I’ve watched him EVOLVE into a serious operator, who no longer needs validation and permission to go after the life he wants.

It’s easy to forget the impact your work as a coach has sometimes…especially when you’re in the weeds of running a business

…and life is kicking you in the baws 🤣🤣

I think all coaches need reminding of this from time to time.

I get it…you’re constantly looking at the next target

And when you’re getting after it, you rarely stop and look backwards

So if you’re having a tough time right now, zoom out…

👉🏼 Think about the people who’ve trusted you over the years

👉🏼 Who they were when they came to you

👉🏼 And who they are now

Look beyond the kilos or pound signs…

You might just have changed their life more than you realise…

So apparently I’m running the Paris marathon next year 🤣

Spoke to my clients about it yesterday and two things came out of the chat:

1️⃣ - Do interesting sh*t and share the journey

People aren’t on IG to learn stuff. They’re there to scroll.

Interesting > clever

2️⃣ - What makes you worth following?
(Not on IG, in general)

Coaches are leaders.

Leaders are people worth following.

In my case, I will NOT become another of these flabby business coaches who made their money and turned into a sock filled with custard.

Athlete > Coach > Mentor

(In that order)

PS - Never run one before…Never even thought about it.

But my brother in law put me in the ballot and here we are...

PPS - Got an incredibly unusual strategy for training - curtesy of the lads in China 👀(more to follow 🤣)
