Last night I delivered a keynote.
My message was that you don't need confidence to do anything, you just need courage.
A lady stopped me after the talk to thank me because she had thought she was too old to achieve more (she was 59) but after hearing my talk, she said she was so inspired she was going to go home & decide what else she wanted to achieve in life.
She had the courage to try.
And that's all it takes.
That's all the inspiring leaders you see have, the courage to have a go.
Don't wait for confidence to come, I can tell you from experience it won't.
You have to start with action & the confidence will follow.

I believe in the power of intention.
At the beginning of this year I set some intentions.
On that list was to study the science of leadership because, as you know, I'm ever so slightly obsessed with leadership & high performance.
I also think the lawyer in me needs to get deep into the detail & see the hard evidence ๐
Something funny happens when you set an intention.
You give it your attention.
You start actively pursuing it - and your algorithm very quickly catches on & starts putting aligned things in front of you!
This morning I woke up to an email from saying I had passed The Science of Leadership certification - with a score of 100% ๐ฅณ
If there is something you want to do, experience or achieve, set an intention.
Write it down (doing this alone makes it 42% more likely to happen!).
And go after it.
I've seen this so many times for myself & my clients, if you are intentional you really can do anything.
I set an intention to throw myself out of a plane, I did it - twice.
I set an intention to swim with sharks, I did it.
I set an intention to compete in a solo , I did it.
I set an intention to quit law & start a business, I did it.
Next on my list is becoming a speaker...
I would love to know, what's on yours?

It's not because leaders don't care.
Every leader I know cares so much about their team.
But sometimes we still miss things.
So here's some leadership hills I will happily die on that have shaped me as a leader.

High performance isn't complicated.
It's actually really simple.
The high performing leaders I work with don't do anything crazy.
They have just got really good at consistently doing very basic things that they know work.
๐ Which one could be an easy win for you if you chose to focus on it?
What a room ๐ฅ
What an incredible group of leaders.
I am celebrating each & every one of you for being there & making time for your own priorities & your own leadership development.
Small moves compound to create big IMPACT ๐
You are all incredible, thank you for sharing so openly & honestly.
I LOVED that you could all resonate with each other & relate to the challenges you are all facing as leaders.
You just do not know who needed to hear what you said today โค๏ธ
And hopefully you also had your own thinking challenged, perspectives shifted & insights gained that will give you a focus for developing your leadership ๐ง
๐ If you were in the room please COMMENT on this post & connect with each other - we all need a strong network of like-minded leaders in our corner don't we.
And if you couldn't make it don't worry, we go again at 1pm on 8 June so get the date in your diary now - before someone else books their priorities into your calendar rather than yours!

Dan contacted me after winding down what had been an incredibly successful business.
Market shifts & economic pressures had significantly shifted the landscape in his industry & his confidence in his ability to lead & be successful had been knocked.
In just three months we:
๐ Restored his belief in his ability to lead - & to lead boldly.
๐ Evaluated the options for his next business move.
๐ Got clarity on the direction he wanted to head in.
๐ Created a clear strategy for taking his vision forwards.
๐ Assessed his network & began having conversations with key people to test the viability of his vision & proposed business model.
๐ Registered domain names & made his first sale.
The biggest hurdle in all of this was rebuilding Dan's confidence & this is something I see all the time.
We did the work behind the scenes using neuroscience backed tools but true inner confidence is only built by taking action & proving to yourself that you can do the thing you want to do.
The mistake is to think you need confidence to start.
You don't.
You need courage.
And Dan had that in bucket loads.
He made moves before he felt ready.
When there was still doubt, uncertainty & unknowns.
At the end of working together I asked him how confident he felt to take this forwards & he said confidence was a total non issue.
He knew he could be successful again because he had already proven to himself that he could ๐ฅณ

In between all of this there have been cuddles, school runs, dog walks, mornings at the beach & gym sessions (only light ones though while my hamstring tear repairs - thank you for helping me with this!).
And too many coffees to count ๐
Very grateful that I get to spend my time with fabulous humans doing all this good stuff ๐
Excited for another month & more of the same ๐
Don't expect people to do things you wouldn't do right ๐คฃ
I really do get how uncomfortable it feels to step out of your comfort zone & do the things your brain is begging you not to do.
Just saying the dress code was "smart casual" was enough for my brain to decide "right well that's us out as what does that even mean" ๐
But leadership requires discomfort.
Discomfort means growth.
And growth means progress.
Every leader you admire has got to where they are by constantly challenging themselves, actively looking for growth & by learning to be ok with feeling uncomfortable while they do it.
Future you needs you to get ok with it too.
So come & join us in LEAD WITH IMPACT.
I can promise you real, impactful growth that will build your confidence & help you step up into your next level as a leader.
There might be some discomfort too BUT it will be minimal as you will be surrounded by other incredible, supportive leaders all feeling exactly the same & cheering each you on to succeed.
๐ We launch on 7th May, click the link in my bio to join us.

I am very proud to have just joined the board of trustees ๐
They are an incredible charity who are there for families who have suffered baby loss, providing support that the NHS is not able to offer, like nursery redecoration & getaway breaks.
Having lost a baby myself, & having seen the feedback they receive from families, I know how impactful this work is.
Providing strategic support to their fabulous CEO, , over the past few years & seeing them expand into Cornwall, grow to a team of four, substantially increase their revenue & help even more families has been such a privilege.
I can't wait to get stuck in playing a more hands on role in the decision making & helping drive their plans for further expansion so they can reach more families.
What I won't be doing again, though, is throwing myself out of a plane for them ๐คฃ
If you, or anyone you know, is looking for a way to give back & truly make a difference that matters, please chat to me about Lunas Fund & how you can get involved. You can have my spot in the plane if you like ๐
