Why you?

It’s a question I ask a lot when coaching.

Not because I don’t know the answer.

Because most men don’t.

They’ll tell me they want to lose weight, get stronger, have more energy, fit into old clothes, run a race or get back into the gym. But when you keep digging, you often realise they’ve never attached any real emotion to the goal.

And that’s exactly what happened during this conversation with Mark.

The reality is that goals without emotion rarely survive real life. The late nights, work stress, family commitments, poor sleep and busy weeks will always win if the goal isn’t connected to something deeper.

If you’re a dad reading this, why do you actually want to get fit?

So you can take your top off on holiday?

Or because you’re tired of feeling uncomfortable in your own skin.

Because you want more energy for your kids.

Because you’re fed up being the bloke who always says he’ll start Monday.

Because you know you’re capable of more than where you are right now.

That’s the difference.

Training plans matter.

Nutrition matters.

But if you can’t answer “why you?” with complete honesty, you’ll always struggle when things get hard.

This clip is a small part of how I coach my clients. Less about sets and reps. More about helping people understand what’s really driving the behaviours behind the results.
