Westermains Bowling Club

As the season enters its final weeks we are having a fun match that was commonplace years ago, with youth v experience taking to the green this Sunday 20th September with a 2:30pm start!

We hope to see you there for what is sure to be an enjoyable match as we look to see who comes out on top!

*This replaces the President v VP match that was scheduled for Saturday 19th September.

Last weekend we hosted the Bowls Scotland U21 Challenge Cup!

A great day of bowling from some of the best young players in the country eventually saw East Lothian come out on top, defeating Team Gourlay in the final! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

We hope to have the opportunity to host similar tournaments next season!

It was a great day at our 1st Aussie Pairs tournament!

It was a damp start to the day but the green held up well & dried out as the day went on.

After a lot of tight games across the day, the semi-final line up was set with; Jim Byron & Damon Creevy v Jo & Colin Wood and Scott Wilson & Andrew Byron v Lynda Robertson & Jim Murdoch.

Victories for Jim & Damon and Scott & Andrew saw them face-off in the final, both teams also reached finals in the Harris Pairs earlier in the season! Scott & Andrew found form throughout the match & built heads that were almost impossible to change, eventually running out as winners after 5 ends.

There has been great feedback on the event & format, we hope to run this again next season!

A big thank you to all the players, members who helped out on the day & those that came to support the players.

The Atlantic Challenge has now finished with Andrew Fleming returning home with a Gold Medal for Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Massive congratulations to Andrew & the rest of the squad for their impressive results against Ireland, Canada & the USA!

Up next for Andrew is a Para Test Match v Ireland at Ayr, Northfield on 19th & 20th September!

Linda Fleming was also in Belfast supporting the Ladies team as International selector.
