Westermains Bowling Club

The K&D knockout competitions come to a conclusion this Saturday, with Fraser Grant & Andrew Byron representing the Club in the Finals at Chryston BC, both matches starting at 2pm.

Fraser, in his 1st final for Westermains since joining, if he was to win it would be the 1st time the Club has won the K&D Senior Singles title. For Andrew, it is his 2nd K&D Final in a row having made the Triples final last season, he is looking to add the K&D Singles trophy to the Champion of Champions title he won in 2023. The Club last won the K&D Singles in 2004 & 10 times in total.

2026 HARRIS PAIRS!

What a day it turned out to be at the Harris Pairs, after a damp start the sun was shining with the green picking up pace each game, with top quality bowls on show throughout the day.

After competitive games throughout the group stages, it produced some excellent matches as we reached the knockout stages.

The Main Semi-Finals were:
● Scott Wilson & Andrew Byron v Kyle Young & Ryan Devine - Scott & Andrew won to progress to the Main Final.
● Ross & Elliot Reid v Kirsty & Colin Wood - Ross & Elliot won to progress to the Main Final.

In what ended up being an all Westermains Main Final, & a repeat of the final from 2025, it was Ross & Elliot who were victorious this year.

After winning through the Plate Semi-Finals, Jim Byron (Westermains) & Damon Creevy (St. Monans) beat Scott McBride Jnr & Snr from Dumbuck.

A massive thank you to everyone that entered, making it such a competitive & enjoyable day & to the members who worked tirelessly throughout the day to ensure the day ran smoothly.

Reminder that the Harris Open Pairs takes place tomorrow, please arrive at least 30mins before the start of your 1st match. Sessions start at 9:30am & 10:15am.

Breakfast rolls available from 8:30am-10:30am, we'll be holding a raffle to raise funds.

The 2nd Leg of the of the K&D Top 10 takes place tomorrow, with the away leg v Campsie & a place in the Semi-Final up for grabs on 7th August.

Member Stuart Donaghey is embarking on a trek for Alzheimers Scotland on 11th May that sees him attempt to walk from France to Spain, known as the Camino Frances Route, starting in St Jean Pied de Port in France, walking across the Pyrenees mountains and onward to Santiago in Spain - a journey of almost 500 miles!
