Jiu jitsu, judo any grappling arts “yeah I said it”on the mats it’s chess on concrete it’s roulette pulling guard on concrete that’s not strategy that’s gambling with your skull 💀 In competition it’s one opponent soft floor time to work, on the streets no timer no reset and 9 out of 10 times your opponent might not be alone, going to the ground without controlling the environment is like laying down in traffic hoping cars respect your technique, that’s not skill that’s risk. Kickboxing, Thai Boxing. Brutal in the ring elbows knees heavy damage, but the stress of the street isn’t a five round fight, no gloves no space, no ref to brake things up, try throwing a clean roundhouse in jeans on uneven pavement, try balancing on one leg when the ground isn’t stable, try clinching someone who might not be empty handed, everything changes fast. Different world.
Boxing, Clean footwork sharp hands slick head movement, but boxing was built with gloves in mind, in the street bare knuckles brake fast, and slipping punches low might put you into something you never saw coming. Boxers train for clean one on one exchanges. But the Street, it’s chaos it’s doesn’t warn and definitely doesn’t play fair. All these you can used on the street but you need to train chaos broken rhythm multiple attackers, train in every day clothes outside in the rain change your environment. Everything works and Nothing works it depends on us.
